The game is extremely heavy on cutscenes early on, basically one per long-rest at the start of the game, but after the initial burst you get nothing every night unless something new gets triggered. The fact that there is a "secret" Dark Urge cutscene that you are only guaranteed to get if you long rest directly after waking up on the beach should raise some red flags. I myself have never seen it without forcing it on the beach.

I long-rest a lot now, even though I do not need it, and I STILL don't get cutscenes triggered (at all) or they are buggy. I KNOW that there are cutscenes that could have been triggered and conversations that could have been had (even ones that are just for flavour) that simply never get triggered if something else "takes priority".

Examples off the top of my head:
- Durge first cutscene basically never triggers if you recruit anyone other than Shadowheart (and even then it might fail)
- Gale using Mirror Image gets skipped if you don't trigger it very early
- Gale looking at Mystra gets skipped if you don't trigger it early and you triggered too much important stuff
- Recruiting Karlach and immediately killing the Paladins of Tyr without her, then long-resting and killing Karlach will result in a botched cutscene where Mizora fails to give a reward and all companions will talk as if Karlach is alive that night (even though they helped kill her). Karlach's body will appear in your camp every night, even if it's looted. For the second time in a row, Mizora does not reward Wyll for being a good pup - you can see the reward in the cutscene, but we don't actually get the item.
- The Lae'zel romance cutscenes have been bugged in every single one of my playthroughs (6th atm), even the one with Lae'zel as the Avatar. They are simply skipped and after what should have been the 2nd one, Lae'zel is stuck in her combat pose at her tent until spoken to.

Thoughts:
1. Why are you mostly limiting long-rests to one cutscene?
2. Why are you not building a queue so that you can see all of these events when there is nothing else to show? Why are all the cutscenes in the first hour of the game and then you to go sleep every night with zero "non-vital" cutscenes?

I second the queue. For RP purposes and pacing it makes no sense to do a long rest, then go back to another long rest, just to see plot progression. Sometimes 5 times in a row.

Like me, the op, and many others have pointed out, add a queue so you can watch more than one "night event" per long rest.

Honestly baffling that this isn't in the game after 3 years in EA.

Yeah. On a second playthrough I've started using Partial Rests with no camp supplies when I would normally do a Short Rest, and it's amazing how much I missed just because I wasn't sleeping after every encounter before.

Playing Durge makes this issue worse, imo. At one point I long rested 3 times in a row to �get the backed up events/story up to date�. It could be done better, maybe multiple events per rest, as some suggested.

I am honestly baffled more people aren`t asking for this.

We are literally missing content with no indications. Imo the queue with multiple events per rest has to be the way to go. Otherwise nothing will be fixed. If you just get notifications you would still need to spam rests.

People were expressing concerns about this system all throughout EA. It's really strange that Larian just did... nothing.

That is one of those things that just further enforces the feeling of "rushed".

Why would you lock people out of RP in an RPG? I mean who on earth RPs a dude that sleeps 5 days straight.. when he is about to die.. ?
You are also loosing opportunities for RP..

On a related note
I have a Dark Urge, on tactician even, who is about to enter Act 2 without Alfira/Quill ever showing up in camp.
People keep pulling exploity temporarily hostile knockout mechanics to prevent an event, and I'm about to prevent by just not long resting every 30 seconds.

I've been saying for a while now that every queued long rest event should play at the next rest.
I don't even want to know how much content I've been missing in every single save by not having narcolepsy.
And you do miss the same content in every run if you're resting non-excessively, the the prioritization methods for the events is the same.

I don`t understand why this is not in the game.

I am not a coder but wouldn`t this be the easiest thing in the world to implement? A days job at most..

I agree. I think the game needs a queue (eg. you'll see the "missed" cut scene next night) and some kind of indicator to the player that there is a cut scene for the next night. That way we wouldn't so easily miss something and on the other hand we wouldn't have to have long rests only to check out if there is a cut scene waiting.
