I have just started playing BD and am trying to do a quick run through. Although I found the key for battlefield 2, when I entered Act2 all my battlefield keys vanished from my inventory.

Removal of BF keys upon act change is correct - you have to find new keys again for each Act.

Thanks, but then why does it let you find the key in act 1? And is there any way to stop the map from scrolling when you get close the the edge? In DD you could toggle that with caps lock, but it doesn't work in BD. Sigh, I am finding this new game confusing.

You had to find 3/4 keys to unlock the BF of Act 1 - in Act 2 you have to find 6 keys, valid for BF Act 2. In Act 3 you have to find... etc.

About scrolling => I simply clicked on my char's icon and was back at the same point - sorry, no further knowledge. Will look into the manual now.

This is easy -

Hold down the left mouse button for walking and the screen will automatically
center and scroll with your characters.

That's something that's supposed to be in the manual, isn't it?
Well, it isn't so I found out after several hours into the game -

There is a hotkey to re-centre the screen focus, or you can click the active character portrait once, or the secondary character portrait twice. Left clicking and holding the button down (so your characters follow the cursor) will also automatically re-centre the screen focus.

There is no option to prevent the cursor from moving the screen focus, since there are several situations where the characters have to split up to do something. I've gotten use to this, and don't accidentally bump the screen focus as often when using the potion bar, etc.

It's all about mouse control - don't hit the side when using potions.
(if you do press the "x" key it recenters the screen on the leader.
