First, minor spoiler. There is no "tag" setting or selection on my screen (I ctrl+f'ed to make sure).
I left Astarion in camp, and didn't take him to see Raphael in Act 2. Or take him anywhere, ever.
Yet somehow he knows about and keeps talking about the rite, sacrifice and how he's going to kill his master. In Act 3, he talks about the scars on his back, even if they were never shown in Act 2. It's like the story is being revealed to him and not the player, which would make it all very confusing if this weren't the second play through.
