How do I mod my conpanion races? Larian decided to fill the companion roster with elves and I fucking hate it. I'd like to make Astarion into a buff human guy, Halsin into Half Orc, and Gale into a dragonborn because I want one as a companion and Gale would make the most sense, but can't figure out what file to edit to make the changes work.

Elves fucking suck Larian. Why are 5 out of 10 companions fucking elves?

There is supposed to be a 'Magic Mirror' coming tomorrow with Patch 3 which may allow you to do this.
If you don't like elves then perhaps the world of DnD is not for you. Or most fantasy RPGs really.

Elves are like gnomes: tolerable in small quantities, but I'd rather not play play the game than play as one. In a world of a billion actually cool and creative fantasy races elves are like moldy wonderbread with a racial supremacy complex. Larian deciding that half of our companions must be elves is literally the most creatively dead part of the game and I'd love to be able to fix it. It's kinda untolerable to me that there's no proper dwarf companion for example. Yeah I know hirelings exist, but they're not really characters in the same way Karlach, Shart, Wyll, and the rest are.

Larian stated that the Magic Mirror won't be able to change race or body type of Tav, and can't touch companions at all.

I use that to edit karlach to gnome and Minthara to muscle mommy.

It would be cool if they gave us more body types. I would like to play as a elf with and githyanki male body type.

Do you use this? It has not been updated since late August. I tried it a couple of weeks ago and it broke my game after it crashed on step 5 of the install instructions.

Still use this in hotfix 6, worked fine.
The only downside is that companion return to they orginal body in level up UI, after level up it work again.

Another tip:
Choose any companion, change they race, save, deactivated mod then finally load.
Companion will have they race changed until you activated it again.

Only 3 of those 5 are elves, the other 2 are half-elves which makes them half-human as well,

also I agree Halsin would fit better as a Half-Orc, Elves aren't supposed to be that big even in Faerun, however personally I'll turn Gale into a gnome, Wyll into a Dragonborn and Shadowheart into a Gith.

I'd be careful with that 'mod'. I tried it and it crashed on step 5 of the instructions, taking all my saves down with it. It hasn't been updated since the end of August and I downloaded it at the beginning of September (on my birthday as it happens )
