Imp in the room with lever "OF" (beware of the traps) said that there would be no need in fighting soldiers if I managed to pass through the wall to the room 18 (the wall is fake). Is it joke?:) I feel that I missed something... like torch combination.

Maybe they tightened up security since that soldier managed to get there? There is no way to avoid fighting the guards in that room, since the lieutenant has a key you need to open the fake wall so you can get to the next level of the citadel.
