I think the minimujm Attribute should be 5, not 8.
-5 is awesome and fun.

The bonus from an attribute is (n-10) / 2.

I.e. to get a "bonus" (well, a malus) of -5 you would need a 1, not a 5.

And the rules for pointbuy are taken from the original, official Player Handbook.

I always run something at -3 for PnP now. It's kind of fun, and I appreciate the couple extra points somewhere else.

Unfortunately, in this game, intelligence does not affect the vocabulary. I remember in Fallout-2, when playing with normal intelligence, you meet one dude who looks like idiot. And if you put intelligence = 1 for your char, then you can have a very meaningful conversation with him

Having stupid conversation options is not a rule in roleplaying game. Especially when it's usually Tim Cain's game that has it (he also said it's mostly pain in the ass to make).
