I'm a completionist. I like to do EVERY quest that I can. I'm currently about 3/4 way through Act III and I see the overlay MAXIMUM LEVEL REACHED. Listen, you want to officially cap the game at Level 12, that's fine but don't stop counting XP. It gets in the way of mods, specifically this mod:
https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/713?tab=filesI've gone in and edited XPData.txt file to make sure I didn't hit Level 12 before finishing the game. The experience point that shows when I hover over XP hasn't changed in forever.
There's a lot right about this game in vanilla form, but it reaches level 12 way too fast and is frankly way too easy. So yeah, at least give mods the freedom to go beyond X amount of XP to keep things challenging and more balanced for those of us who like to experience as much as possible during a playthrough.
PLEASE.
I was envisioning multiple playthroughs but now I doubt I'll finish what I intended to be my first full-run. The cap ceiling is hugely disappointing, so much that it's rendered a game I thought was right up there with BG II to be FAR lower. Frankly, I'd ask for a refund if I could get one.
