Contemplating a purchase of BG3 and have a question. Sometimes I like to really roll up my sleeves to figure out the best, most optimized way to equip a character (e.g. specific weapon, armor choice, etc). And I know there are item combos that enhance one another, making playing around with that more fun and interesting.

However, sometimes, and especially as a new player, I might like the option to have the game basically auto-equip my characters with the best items I have in my inventory. Is that a thing/option in BG3? If not, is it mostly pretty clear that e.g. yes this new sword you found is better than the one you're already using? Or is it always going to be more nuanced and complex than that?
