Firstly - a big shoutout to those responsible for the idea of using actual alphabets from D&D in-game! Thank you so much for the fun I have with deciphering!

You all probably know by now, but there are a few instances in the game that use weird symbols and runes as writings and yeah, those are actually taken from ttrpg D&D's many alphabets and create words that have meaning.
I've translated some of them just for fun and thought that I can share it on forum so we all can laugh at some and more importantly know how much thought Larian's team put into this game.
Some of them are already in the character creator as tattoos, some later in the game.
I'm sure that I didn't saw or remembered to check all of them, so if anyone saw something interesting and is curious if this means anything - please post it here and I'll try to decipher it, then add it to the post!
I'll also try to find new ones in my next playthroughts!

Kindly reminder to put possible spoilers in tags please!

Ok, so below You'll find deciphered words and curiosities from the game. I've hid them, so You can choose what You want to see, have fun reading!

TATTOOS IN CHARACTER CREATOR
There are two scripts in usage - infernal(used by devils, have a bit gothic style and gives a bit of "gangsta" look) and barazhad(used by primordial and abyssal languages, those simple little runes).

Infernal tattoos:
DiViNE - this is one word tattoo above the right brow.
DeEAtH - this is the one under the right eye and yes this is not my mistake in writing that word. xd

Barazhad tattoos:
LIFE FALLEN GATE - this is the tattoo in the form of stripe across left side of the face with runes and black stripe on the back of the head.
IMMORTAL(right side, forehead), LIFE(right cheek), DEATH(left cheek) - this one comes with small sword and bow on the right cheek and griffon on neck.
FOREHEAD-RIGHT CHEEK-NOSE-LEFT CHEEK-CHIN-LARIAN(on neck)-STUDIOS(on neck) - yeah, this is full face commitment tattoo. You are going to talk with every boss in the game with Your face's parts described in case You forgot where is your nose and with Larian as your warlock patron. xP

THAT ONE GRAVE IN THE UNDERDARK
Yes, the one by the lake with the poor dog, Myrna. Narrator lied to You about what is written there! Script here uses Thorass alphabet(old common language). Better sit down because You'll probably end on the floor anyway. Here we go:

ASTARION'S ROMANCE SCENE FROM ACT 3
On the grave, written in Thorass alphabet(used with old common language across Faerűn):
Astarion
Ancunin

---
229 -- 298 DR
(This was written orginally on the grave, DR[Dalereckoning] means something akin to a year in particular calendar of this setting. I'm not sure if it's 268 or 298, but would say the latter is correct, the difference between 6 and 9 is small, but still the latter means Astarion was 69 years old at the moment of his death, which is like 18-years old for the elves and this makes it the more tragic...)
492 DR --
(This is what he wrote. Here I'm not sure if 2 is not 8, but from what I know the year in game is 1492, so it should be 2. This means he is around 263 years old at this point in the story. His style of writting is really sloppy, but then again it is hard to write in the stone using only dagger. ^^")

Oh wow! This is great!

Now I'm all intrigued! I remember that contract being held up at one point, and a few others, but didn't know they were legit like that!

This is maybe the first game when they could pull off Languages in a way that seems fun.

Secret Druidic Ogham is one I've always wanted to see. They got the perfect set up for it. I half expect to get Dwarven runes and Elvish runes, and the like, but the more esoteric stuff is cool. We do get those Gith tablets and all the speak with animals and speak with the dead, but the written stuff with glyphs and scrawl could take it next level.

That quill and inkwell we find right at the start on the beach hasn't really been put to use in any of my playthroughs. Bit of a tease there, like the rope I guess, but they could have whole system of secret dialogues and messages in bottles and such. I'd love if they ever do scribing scrolls and grimoires or enchanting to see some of these options. Or for the infernal and abyssal tongues to have some crazy sound to that like they did for Malebolgia's minions in the Spawn cartoons. "You may feel some pain..." heheh

Another thing that would be cool as all getup, is if they hired someone who can do a riff on common, but done completely in sign. Like to mocap them moving the hands and such. Or even just for some simple stuff like quick basic communications or commands. That way when everyone is sneaking or silenced they could use that instead of speech. Probably a little there would go a long long way just to making gestural and idling animations a thing we could sort of play around with on the fly.

Anyhow, good work cracking the Linear B on that one!
Now I'll definitely have to pay more attention hehe
