The new mirror feature is fantastic. Totally fixed the problem of character creation analysis paralysis. I use it all the time for small tweaks, like if that hair tint doesn't actually look good in the light, or if I'm simply tired of hearing the same voice.

It's my understanding that we are still unable to use it on companions to prevent degeneracy. Fine.
It has probably been suggested to just allow us to change their hair styles. But, I suppose, that too could lead to some forms of degeneracy. Fine.

Here's what to do- Select 3 hair styles for each companion (and hirelings, please!) that are deemed appropriate and fitting.
That tiny adjustment is all it would take to help the game feel fresh.

Literally just that change would feel like night and day.
We don't need All the agency, just SOME agency, and the companions will be so much more connected in the hearts of the players. I promise.

I agree, but I'd say allow makeup and hair style changes... whatever would "realistically" be allowed. Some subset (reduced pool of choices)of customization should be ok.

That would be a cool feature for sure. Can we also add an option to clean off the blood that covers us in camp? Sometimes, I don't actually love kissing Astarion covered in blood, even if he might like that a little.

I'm absolutely on board with this too.

Surely it's a tiny thing and I am only one player, buuuut when I play any game like this I like to use a hair growth as a marker of time. Is my Tav's hair getting longer between Act1 and Act3? Yep! Would it be nice to see my companions change as well? Hell yep! Maybe someone got a haircut when we got to the city. Who knows?
The thing is, we are gonna be playing this game for years to come (I'm looking at you Skyrim) and while the modding scene is thriving and robust--it's nice when you don't have to RELY on mods for small tweaks and features missing from the base game.

(we should also have far more face, hairstyle, make up, piercing, and tattoo choices but well *ahem* that's a different topic all together *grin*)

What's the "degeneracy" that we're preventing? I've already seen some truly cursed mods on Nexus that outstrip anything you could do to a companion with the limited character creation options we get in this game.

I completely agree, but I think they might be hesitant to add that feature because of Shadowheart. If she didn't
change her hair color and hairstyle
at one point in the story, then there shouldn't be a problem. However, given that she does, they might not want to have to make that adjustment for many different
hairstyles
.

By offering three hairstyle choices per companion, as you suggest, such as one long, one shorter, and their current one, that problem would be solved.

And yes, please, let us add makeup and some other tweaks to showcase how the companions have changed over time. Even allowing us to add some scars would be a nice touch.
