What is the significance of items that cannot be sold to a merchant? I have the following now to name just a few:

Rope--of course

Chemist's Powder, Chemist's Herbs, Chemist's Tools, etc.

Odd Looking Gem (I had nine originally and two disappeared!)??

Leather Gloves, Marksman's Friends -- Ranger Set (White lettering--not colored as Unique or anything else)

Golden Jug--actually THAT is what I should use to carrying leftovers around with from act--weighs less and you can't break it accidentally like I have done with countless barrels.

Rusty dagger

Magic Sword (Green)

Bottle (White colored) So far in Act II empty bottles, mugs, etc. can still be sold but not this one?

I hang on to these sort of things because I think they might be important and that is why the merchants won't buy them--they tie into a quest or something and are not somehow useless--but I just don't know for sure.

***BUT, would a general rule-of-thumb be that if you click on an item and it doesn't disappear to your inventory then you DON'T need to drag it to your inventory?*** Simple minds want to know these things...

How many items can you put inside a container? What are its limits?

Now, about those 7 remaining Odd Looking Gems?? What are they? I'll just hang on to them like the other things that don't sell and see if any more disappear on me.

You can't sell items of a set jet, it seems it's possible to sell it after a act change.

The chemist sets, candles, jugs, all those things are just decorative stuf and you can drag them allong and decorate a house you occupie.

If you click on something it wil disapear if you need it or can sell it.

there are a few exeptions:

stuf you need for quests (like letters with proof, some herbs or potions ect etc

The teleporter stones and dolls

Okay, thanks then. Haven't found any interest in decorating a home in the game. It seems easier to just live out of a gold jar or the like.

Now, about these Odd Looking Gems...another one disappeared so my supply has dropped from 9 to 7 to 6 now. What are they??

Okay, there is another spot I can't get across so I need these teleport there too. Sooo...I might as well go off looking for them in another direction.

For the teleporter stones, head north west of the imp village.

I think the only rope you need is on the first level of the game, from the escape tunnel.

Try clicking on an odd looking gem in your inventory.

I don't think there are any limits on how much you can place in a chest. You have to be careful loading containers too much, though. Sometimes the game can move items to another area, and place them partially or completely off the window to the right. This happened to me a couple times (before the patch updated the BF traders' inventories so they could buy as much loot as you could find as soon as you found it). Once I was able to just catch part of the item by running my cursor over the right edge of the inventory screen, and the other time I was not.
