I am in the inn in the shadowcursed lands.
I went to the camp, there I wanted to change party members.

Every time I remove a party member his/her alchemy bag, food bag and key ring is moved to the inventory of the main char.

This did not happen before.
Not sure if it is because I rest in this area or the latest patch.

Please fix this. Changing characters is annoying as it is. Moving their bags on top of it is even more annoying.

Agree. This is really irritating.

It happens since Patch 3. In all locations from Act 1 and Act 1.5 as well

It happens since Patch 3. In all locations from Act 1 and Act 1.5 as well. You might have noticed that all orange border gear pieces (i.e. staff of thr crones) also transfer to Tav

That happens so you don't get locked out of things for not having quest items on you, unfortunately it hasn't been implemented very well

That's a slight understatement, it's terrible lol.
Basically no companion keeps their bags now and Tav ends up with all of them unless you play the game with the same party all the way, you can't give them back unless you add the companion into the party but of course you're getting someone elses bags by doing that.
If your strength char was carrying corpses (who'd do that lol?) and gets removed from party they will all end up moved to your possibly 8str Tav who is now encumbered, if not lready encumbered from all the food weight they suddenly gained.

Here is a system recommendation:

It seems that only quest items are important to transfer.
For quest items,2 explicit Item Flags: "Personal" and "Used".

Personal Quest Items: Quest items that are used for specific character related storylines stay with that character, always. Unless that character is dead.
Used Quest Items: Quest items that have been used for thier intended purpose (plot point, cinemeatic, object interaction) and are no longer transefered by default.

The above two flags create an implicit 3rd possibility. Unused Generic Quest Items.
Unused Generic Quest Items: This accounts for most Quest Items. These Items transfer to the player character when a companion leaves the group.

When a companion leaves the group search their inventory and containers in that inventory. Transfer the following items to the player character
* Unused Generic Quest Items
* Personal Quest Items, IF the companion that owns the item is dead

Other Thoughts:

Gold, gems, alchemy items, food, don't need to be transfered when the character leaves the party.

Gold and Keys could probably be made into an account/playthrough inventory, and not be personally held by any character.
