In my ideal world, I would play with an OC bard, Shadowheart, and Lae'zel. But... what are the odds that I would be mercilessly slaughtered in every single battle? The other recruitable characters in Act 1 all either stress me out or rub me the wrong way, so...... smirk

Any input would be much appreciated.

I understand the problem with building a sensble four member party out of the available origins.
I did not have major problems with getting to lvl 4 with a threesome. It is a question of picking your fights and judicious use of exploding barrels smile (making me recall playing DOOM). Never tried beyond 4th, though.
BTW - I tried Tav+two Origins+Hireling. To your group I'd add the Drow Ranger (and hid his hair under a helmet ASAP :D).

People do solo runs on tactician, so you will probably be perfectly fine with a party of three. You could still simplyget a hireling from Withers.

I find it very funny that neither Lae'zel nor Shadowheart stress you out or rub you the wrong way.

To me, they are basically the worst. Well, they and Astarion.

Most easygoing are Wyll and Karlach, I think. Gale is okay-ish.

But yes of course you can play with three characters.

Three people is more than feasible. I have quite a few myself of various builds.
