I've been stuck in my playthrough because none of Gale's scenes are triggering, he's barely speaking to me, and it's just so frustrating. Why isn't this already sorted? I've bought this damned game on launch and still haven't finished my first playthrough or even want to continue playing it because I'm locked out of the content I should be getting. Is there going to be a fix or did I just waste my money on a bugged mess?

Your lack of romance options could possibly have something to do with your responses to him, the answers you give him.

Gale Romances You Like This
Gale likes your character to be good... if you keep killing innocents he will hate it as he is a neutral good alignment character (in my opinion).
Have you given Gale magical items to snack on? Gale likes it when you do this.
Has Gale shown your character how to cast magic by conjuring the weave? For Gale, I think, this is foreplay.
Meeting Elminster and everything that happens at this time gives you a chance to show Gale you care about him and that you don't want him to die.

(Remember it all depends on saying the right things to Gale. If you make a mistake romance won't happen... ever)

It will be some time before Gale will actually romance you after these interactions (as far as I know), with no romantic dialogue. But one night he will surprise you.
Its like real life, romance takes time and patience.

Many players have encountered bugs with Gale since patch 3. Some players can’t get hos weave scene to trigger due to a reintroduction of a patch 1 bug where he just repeats dialogue referring to giving him magical items after the first one instead of getting the weave scene. Also seems to be some problems with hos dialogue during the night under the stars scene. Like you, and many other Galemancers, I am tired of putting my playthrough on hold every other patch due to bugs with him, but there’s nothing we can do except report it and wait for a fix sadly.
