On your journey you can find many items that serve no purpose other than to be sold.
I was able to find only 2 interactions (both with one companion) where I could gift these items to them and got some unique dialogue.
I would love to be able to gift some other trinkets to my friends, and I would love for them to show up at camp later. When I try to just place these items in their tents, they go into the travellers chest the next time I leave camp.
Some examples:
An owlbear teddy I want to give to Karlach, Selunite idol I want to give to Shadowheart after she learns the truth, some items found around Moonrise towers I would love to give to Isobel - letters, her second earring; the box full of Wyll's toys found in his dad's vault, a portrait or statue of Astarion so he can finally know how he looks like
