Hi!
I'm in act 2, but I want to play an evil playthrough.
My idea is playing with Dark Urge and a Orc.
What I am not sure is which class to choose.
I'm my actual playthrough my favourite party is:
Paladin (my character) Shadowhearth Laezel Gale
I think that Paladin oathbreaker will suit well, role-playing as a psycho. But in the other hand, I'd like to use a multiclass or a Barbarian.
I think I read that Larian said that sorcerer was the "Canon" Dark Urge history.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

1 Paladin is Minthara... also note oathbreaker is only your option but personally Vengeance is easy the best subclass for evil
2 Dark Urge is not a psycho by default but you can totally play that way... for my money Warlock synergises better with Pally and Barb wants thief or even fighter because Barb is a pure martial class but Pally dips into spells
as a Durge you will kill [especially when you lean in] so expect to run out of party members i.e, hire them
Luke Skywalker: I don't, I don't believe it. Yoda: That is why you failed.

Currently playing Half-Orc Champion as Durge.
Having started many instances and wanting to try something different, I let Shadowheart kill Lae'zel in camp, however, Lae'zel is about the only origin character who approves of your reckless killing, Shadowheart will tolerate it, but the rest leave and I took Karlac's head. I have 2 hirelings (Ranger and Barb) and Shadowheart. Having fun with it.
As far as which class to play, I'd say it doesn't much matter as the game gives everything you need to succeed with any class - just play what you like.

I don't want to be a full psycho. I think that I would like a troll character.
If I play Barbarian, I won't have more funny dialogues that a charisma character. No?

I like Cha toons and for dialogue Bard is great. You have many options with Bard. The other consideration though is that Durge is rewarded for full psycho including the best cloak in the game only available to Durge in Act 1, but as I said, you can do it any way you like, there is no best.

For me the two "best" evil play throughs would be a Wizard (Sorcerer or Warlock work as well) or a rogue. The character seeks nothing but accumulation of their own personal power and wealth. These classes tend to me more " directed" in that way. I could see a Bard doing it but that is one screwed up Bard in my opinion since he NEEDS good will for entertaining. A warrior would be okay at it but would be to easy to stop.
I did some lore digging and if you want to serve an Evil God, and thus be evil to some extend, you can do a Monk. There is an entire Monk order devoted to Shar.

Oathbreaker would be good.
Assassin/gloom stalker ...Killer for hire basically. Go Drow Lolth-sworn for bonus points? lol
Serve an Evil God as Zentu said.
Play Necromancer Wizard Raising dead is always fun.
Bard has some very good dialogue options ... not really evil one just funny.
Barbarian and Fighter both have extra dialogue options that basically say "touch me, I dare you"
Hope this helps?

evil Driuds have some good lines... be sure to look him in the eye when you say "I'll take care of your kids" class = i'd go Pally-lock; 5 pally for 2 attacks, 5 warlock to bind your weapon to charisma and then 2 thief or fighter... I played him as a dark dwarf but dragon kin is fine p.s, yes i like how Necromancer can 'make' new friends from the spare parts
Luke Skywalker: I don't, I don't believe it. Yoda: That is why you failed.

Sorcerer gets some really snarky dialogue options.

I went human barbarian.
Because if you get into The Dark Urge stuff, only a human could fall this low.

Larian has basically given every class a way to play them sinister. Even the paladin has a hidden special class to become a dark warrior.
You can also tie it to the race very well if it doesn't quite fit the class, like with the bard or barbarian.
Otherwise, all predefined evil classes in fantasy RPGs are the first choice for an evil story path. Evil priest, necro, shadow knight ala oathbreaker, assassin. With the Ranger, you have the dark Stalker, which by the way is pretty intense. I have loaded a MOD where my team mats fight with AI. I made Lae'zel a dark stalker and she's a blast in melee and ranged in combination. She already knocks down a few enemies at the start of the fight all by herself and thanks to fog step and sneak, she is also very agile on the move... you can't get her dead that easily...
I myself have played with a half-darkelf as an evil druid as a caster. Has also worked well. Warlock also works very well. But then I started the warlock again as a cunning fairy warlock, because I wanted to charm and confuse more so enemies and give in the world the state of a somewhat cunning, but not too evil character. Just like a shady fairy escaped from the fairy realm. That works really well, too.

If you start as a Dark Urge and want to play them evil, I wouldn't necessarily advice for paladin or cleric - for story reasons in th clerics case and because you would have broken your oath already as a paladin. This would be an instance, where you should be able to start as an oathbreaker and where a certain deity should be available in CC.

For Paladin I would much rather see a revision to older approaches when it comes to "falling". A fallen Paladin just becomes the same level fighter, the "divine" power has been withdrawn. If you want a "dark" Paladin play through I am okay with that but it is an actual class and even it can become "fallen" if it somehow betrays the tenets of it's oath.
I really think not going this route lost out on some cool subplots. A Paladin that has fallen could have a special quest they must undertake and complete to regain their status, not pay a small bribe.

Even the paladin has a hidden special class to become a dark warrior. Err ... Minthara is an evil Paladin, and her subclass isnt hidden. Personally thats not a great change to 5e that they allow evil Paladins now, but whatever.

"Evil" Paladins (i.e. Anti-Paladin) are not new to the DnD game with 5e. I am glad to see fantasy genre games blur the distinction of the traditional good vs evil or law vs chaos themes. The Dark Urge "stock" build has the benefit of the lightning charge gear in the game. If you are truly evil, does it really matter to you if you electrocute your party along with your enemies should the need arise? For a pittance of coin, Withers will provide you with all the "allies" you may require. If you want to go all in, then make use of what is already there. If you want to command a legion of undead while you are at it add a few wizard levels for necromancy.
