I think this beautifully illustrates the whole situation in the current industry. "Game development caution" damping down ideas. Caution also in game journalism.

It just reminded me of the bowl of goat's milk that old Winthrop used to put outside his door every evening for the dust demons. He said the dust demons could never resist goat's milk, and that they would always drink themselves into a stupor and then be too tired to enter his room..

Tim's channel has been a goldmine.

I do wonder what is a cause for such mindset - I wonder if it is a side effect of larger teams. Making Fallout1 was a much different thing, than making Outer Worlds or Wildstar. Working on a bigger project, in a bigger compartmentalization might make it difficult for individuals to feel ownership over what they do, or have detailed overview of the project to feel confident in making decisions and commitments.

Not sure about that...was Black Isle/Troika studio considered an indie studio by today's terms? Can't remember ( I was 17...having hell lot of fun with all these games).

Social media and its effect on people and work culture I think is the big GAME CHANGER, pun intended.

Today's indie game environment I think is amazing, and thank god for that. (for now...Unity engine scandalous changes might change all that...). He does mention that so many AAA game studios steal/borrows so many great ideas from these indie devs.
