During the fight with the Drider that has the moon lantern, I knocked the Drider into a chasm & now I can't get the moon lantern to enter the Moonrise Tower. If I try I get the shadow curse.
Is it possible still to progress through the Moonrise Tower without the lantern or do I need to go back to save before the Drider fight?

From what I read online, just dash and traverse as fast as you can. And turn on turn-based mode while you do so.

Sounds like time to load a previous save.

You can. Karlach even has an inspiration for getting there without a lantern, but it is a bit challenging.

You will need necrotic resistance and lots of healing as you run like hell for the towers. And you need to go completely south so you get the shortest route.

The daylight spell will also help you get along, but not in any of the sidequest structures, so you must skip all of these.
Don't know what will happen once you get to the tower.
It could just lead to a hard and stressing time and in the end turn out to need a reload anyway.

You can get a lantern from Isobel, also there is a lantern in Moonrise Towers so you can also finish the side quests.
