Hello everyone

Just some thoughts around the continuity with Lae'zel and ideas for Act 3 romance.

Early in Act 3 the romance scene has staying with Lae'zel the "stay with me always conversation" and how that then links with the options at end game where you can either:

Join Orpheus and Lae'zel and travel back to the Astral,
Stay in Faerun and encourage Lae'zel to go back to the Astral, or
Ask Lae'zel to remain behind in Faerun.

Considering how passionate Lae'zel was in the earlier scene in Act 3 for you to stay with her, the option of letting her go seems a little lacking without an emotional farewell, similar lets say to Frodo leaving for the White Shores in LoTR's Return of the King.

Also, with the option to travel back to the Astral plane, I was totally expecting a cut scene of that teleport to the Astral and the scene just abruptly cuts. This might also benefit from an extension. Perhaps arriving through a portal in the Astral with a battle raging in the distance, then a close up of the two on the dragon looking at each other with grim determination and the expectation of another massive battle ahead.

Othwerwise, there is a continuity issue with the Orpheus / Lae'zel placement. One scene prior to mounting up on the Red dragon the order from left to right goes player main, Lae'zel then Orpheus, then the next scene with Orpheus moving to mount up, the order is player main, Orpheus then Lae'zel. Essentially Orpheus and Lae'zel magically switch places inbetween camera re-positioning.

and finally, on the pier after talking with Gale, the main character head is doing a wierd "Jacobs Ladder" head switch left to right. Funny to watch but yeah disturbing aswell. I doubt that is WAI.

Thanks and peace.

As someone that is currently romancing Bae'zel for the first time, I'm glad that there's an option for Tav to go with her to the Astral plane. I saw on YT that she could become Queen but you staying in Faerun (and was ready for that ending) so this is good news to me.

Sorry if doesn't have to do much with your post. But I felt happy that my Tav could go with her Queen. :p

That's a wholesome ending, but I got to admit, I like the one she becomes a Queen more.

I'll make my proud and regal Lae'zel the Queen she's destined to be. Even if that means she and Tav won't being together.

But I'll probably want is this one:

Quote
Join Orpheus and Lae'zel and travel back to the Astral

How can I get that ending?

The Queen ending might be if you are playing Lae'zel as the main character or if you take the Crown? I am not sure, I will re-run the ending and try the evil option to see.

Well, to be fair. In the scene itself, they never said she'll become Queen, however, when Orpheus is asking us to kill him, he tells Lae'zel to carry his will and to destroy Vaalkith, so it's pretty much implied she'll become the Queen.

It's basically like the last video you sent (I only watched the first minute, tho. I'm working rn :p), only difference is Orpheus is a mind flayer and you have the option to kill him.

I really would have love they allow me to go with them. But I don't know if lorewise/d&d universe that would be a problem.

yeah, well I am hoping Larian might extend some of the Lae'zel scenes, especially the one where you both leave, I think something in the Astral plane would be cool to see and a nice way to close out that option. Also with the scene of Lae'zel leaving on her own, maybe something more tear jerking could be done, not sure and with her staying i think just a bit of a tidy up as there are some confusion dialogue with her referencing Vlaakith and the other options leaving her are just a terrible choice because it leave her alone without a partner, even after you promised to stay with her. I wont do a video for those as I think they are just a cruel way to end the game and the relationship.

Convince Karlach to destroy her soul for you. It's buggy option since everyone responds to you like you are a mind flayer.

Thanks. So...Karlach becomes the mind flayer? Uh, that's about as distasteful. Ah damn it, I thought you could get out of the whole become a mind flayer thing which is, in my opinion, thematically disgusting since it hits you especially hard if you're making a point of not doing this for the whole game.

This is a bit of a mixed bag options because by allowing her to become a Mind Flayer you save her from having to go to Avernus. So while your in some ways hurting her, in other ways your saving her.

Now the question, how can I get it? (Please don't tell me Orpheus needs to be alive/not turned into a mind flayer, my Tav killed Karlach).

Couldn't agree more! I'm waiting on act 3 revisions and I'm hoping that Larian realizes that the "mindflayer requirement" of act 3 needs to be eliminated. I ended up finishing the game with a sense of defeat. It just wasn't fun.

From an utilitarian perspective, perhaps, but thematically *anyone* having to become a mind flayer is about the same, if by your very action you made a point of maintaining your and others' mental integrity. It's almost as bad as Mass Effect 3's ending in this regard, and that's saying something.

And if you don't have Karlach in your party and you play a githyanki who romances Lae'zel (which happens to be what I'm doing at the moment), this is an outright evil setup, since there is no way a githyanki would not take this upon themselves to save Orpheus, who is the only known living githyanki who can resist an Elder Brain. But then of course there can be no good romance ending.

Actually, you dont convince Karlach to become a Mind Flayer, even if Orpheus volunteers or you start considering it, Karlack explains that it might be the only way she can live. So by allowing Karlack to turn into a Mind flayer she lives because her heart stops being explosive. Karlach is really happy about the choice in the end.

Ill do a video where you make the choice to unlock these three endings tonight. I just re-did the end fight and chose the evil option also. There are three options after you ...... dispose of the Karlach Mindlayer, which I must say was brutal. All three choices contain the exact same ending, so begs the question why have three choices?

Personally, I didn't find the evil ending satisfying at all. Only one ending repeated for the three options you can choose.

I was expecting you wouldn't say that. frown

I guess, I'll have to make a new playthrough, luckily I wasn't that far but still. frown

I feel kinda sad for Karlach tho, I'll pick her just to be a sacrifice at the end.

I don't know if killing Karlach as mind flayer is an act of mercy or malice...
