Hello everyone. I just finished Save Mayrina quest with a lot of save-loading to see all possible outcomes and I feel that these suggestions are really important to improve the quest.
To be honest, this is the most badly-written quest I've encountered so far. Why? Well, the storyline is nice and all, but at the end game gives you 2 evil options just out of the blue without any context to what happend before. Especially bad if you are playing as a paladin. Quest ending should be reworked.
So here are 3 minor (comparing to rewrite the story) improvements to fix the current storyline ending:
Warning! Spoilers are under spoiler tag.1. Give player an option to tell Mayrina about her brothers after saving her.
What to do: Add an option to tell Mayrina about her brothers when Mayrina is standing near her husband's coffin at the end of the quest.
Why: Currently player is unable to tell Mayrina what happend with her brothers after saving her. By default Mayrina hates player. This option will help Mayrina to understand that Hag is evil and player is good character here.
2. Give player an option to tell Mayrina about hag's plan after saving her.
What to do: Add an option to tell Mayrina about Hag's plan with her child when Mayrina is standing near her husband's coffin at the end of the quest.
Why: Currently player is unable to tell Mayrina about Hag's plan with her child if you save her from the cage while in battle with Hag (which is the most logical thing to do). The only way to do so right now is free Mayrina from the cage AFTER the battle and Hag dialong using "Speak with dead" spell. Again this option will help Mayrina to understand that Hag is evil and player is good character here.
3. Alternative decision to solve a problem with Mayrina's husband (the most important).
What to do: Add an option to give Mayrina some gold to hire someone and bury her husband. She is gratefull and going home to hire some guys, quest ended. Husband's coffin should dissapear after 1 long rest.
Why: 2 current options are both terrible. First one (Revive) is litterally what Hag planned and I'm not going to use it, because something terrible could happen. Second option (Break the wand right in front of Mayrina) makes me like I'm a heartless monster, why would my good character ever do that?!
I believe the ending should be completely rewritten, but add this option is much easier.
These 3 suggestions will make the quest storyline much better and will not force player to be an evil, like the current ending.
