As the title suggests, it would be nice to cast AOE spells, such as fireball, into clouds of fog or darkness. My reasoning comes from experience with tabletop RPGs such as DND 5e. In DND, I would make an action such as, "I would like to cast a fireball into the cloud of fog." Not sure if this is unreasonable, but it just seems like something you should be able to do, as you're not targeting a specific creature.

From a reasonability perspective, this makes total sense. It's like tossing a grenade into a dark room. You should definitely be able to do it, just not sure if you will hit anything.

From a balance perspective (yea, I know the arguments for and against balance), it may be a different matter.

Agreed a cloud should not BLOCK stuff, it just means you cannot see what your doing. Setting off a Fireball inside a cloud of darkness makes perfect sense, just you cannot get an exact aim on where it will center.

Agreed, but to balance it out, if you throw an AOE spell into darkness/fog, there should be a chance that it might veer off course from where you aim imo.

Agree but reduce the spell radius by half since you can't visualize the exact placement
