I think Helia was pretty much an earlier version of Halsin. Yes, a bard companion like Alfira would have made sense but we already have 2 druids in this game.
Helia was a halfling werewolf bard and Alfira is not a bard, but a musician.

I don’t have much to say on this subject; however, I have always felt that she was cut because the “adult” content would possibly push her into certain controversies…
Which is kinda silly considering Halsin's popular scene..
I was primarily referring to the size and childlike features of gnomes and halflings. IIRC I thought she was going to be a gnome?

This argument again: You can romance everyone as a halfling, gnome or dwarf pc - no problem. And none of them look like children.

Irl people with dwarfism exist y'know. And surprise surprise when they reach adulthood they do want to have romantic relationships like the rest of us... so the argument about 'childlike features' while valid, still sounds kinda iffy to me.
Whenever I think of small races and romances my mind is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar away from comparing that to children, y'know?

I know, but a sex scene with a bear is also quote far on the degeneracy scale for many.

You're talking about the Twitter Folks, yeah, their opinions mean nothing, everything is a controversy to them, I still can't get over how those Twitter racists compared my own ancestors to D&D Orcs in order to applease their Savior complex, it still pisses me off.
I'm getting off topic, even they do get offended by the Helia romance, it's not like you're romancing a child.

Exactly, I find it a bit .... troublesome, if people compare halflings, gnomes and dwarves with children - says a lot about those people

I appreciated how Bioware had a nice variety of races in BG 1 and BG 2. All the core races from 2e were well represented with the gnomes, halflings, and dwarves being some of the most well liked companions (though the three gnomes were all jokes, but at least they were fun jokes).
We don't get that in this game. But, on the other hand, there are just a ton of playable races now. It is much harder to have them all represented well. There were only six core races in 2e AD&D.
Though Bioware cheated slightly by still have a Drow and Tiefling character (a pre-horned 2e version).

A friend of mine, who was as excited to play BG3 as me, has entirely noped out of purchasing the game because of that one promotional material of that one Astarion and Halsin romance scene. And now he's taking a stance for not playing the game until it goes on some massive sale in a year or two.

And that is why I barely ever use Twitter these days, I much prefer Reddit but recently I noticed a lot of that attitude has seeped into Reddit as well.

Agreed! But Jan was a treasure, annoying all companions as much as annoying the player!
Just give me a drunken dwarf stereotype and I will be happy. Loved Khelgar from NWN2 and while a stereotype in the beginning, he could be pushed to become a monk what was fantastic!

Jan was great and if you talk to him a few times, you get that his sillyness was often for show.
I like dwarf companions, but not the drunk, please - I hated Oghren with passion.

Oh I know, but Jan was the definition of bombarding someone with a wall of text.

I believe I am the only woman alive who actually enjoyed DAO's Oghren, like it made sense why he was the way he was. Guy had a lot of unresolved issues that he just decided to silence with alcohol. Now Awakening's Oghren is a whole other story and I hate that guy, too. Running away from responsibilities? Ugh. Basically DAO's Oghren had an arc that was completely dropped and forgotten about in Awakening.
But NWN2's Khelgar was one of the most fun dwarven characters I have ever encountered, well, next to BG2's Korgan. He was drinking a ton, was a more or less a comedic relief but he took his duties seriously. Also, he never drank himself into a stupor like Oghren.

I don't remember Khelgar that well, since it's been a while I played NWN2, but Korgan was a great character. I have a problem with alcoholism in videogames and making that character the comical relief, like Oghren, because I have a friend, who is a recovering alcoholic and when he was in the deep of it, it wasn't funny. So this is a personal thing, I actually think, that a lot of people like him.

Khelgar was great, but i always hated switching him over to a monk. He was so much more effective as a fighter! But how could I deny him his dream?
Same! The problem was that his base stats didn't change at all with the class swap and his stat spread was better suited to a fighter over a monk (str based monk? rly? XD).
Oh how I miss Neverwinter Nights 2. Upgrading and working on the Crossroads Keep still holds a special place in my heart, I don't think there was a single RPG since then that had the same amount of customization when it comes to the players home base and its guards. And the Mask of the Betrayer is still one of the best expansion ever.
Khelgar and Grobnar were a lot of fun but my top spot for a companion of short stature has to be Regill from WotR.
Also how can you hate Oghren, such a stupid character lol.

I literally just explained, why I didn't like Oghren .

And that's why I didn't quote you, It wasn't directed at you. My comment (the Oghren part) was more of a joke/exaggeration as to why would anyone dislike such an 'amazing' character like Oghren, thus the video.
I think Ogrhen was pretty cool, Awakening kind of threw Oghren's new wife under a bus, you get him together with this sweet girl and all your hard work is undone, I mean the Grey Warden angle was good but he could've also been a father, I admit that I did treat Alistair as more of Joke than Orghen, the poor guy constantly got bullied by both me and Morrigan, he later got Hardened and married Loghain's daughter, while my guy went through a magic mirror to raise an old god baby.

Ok, sorry, it's getting pretty late here, I'm probably tired
