Honestly one of the biggest problems with inventory management is the person who categorized all the items in the game for auto sort has been sniffing glue since DOS1.

None of the items actually sort by what any one would consider "Type" properly. Also, this issue did not start with Baldur's Gate 3.

I will say thank you for adding shift click and ctr click multi select. That has been a god send.

PS. Also Infinite dyes, make it official.

PPS. Love you long time you crazy glue sniffers.

Inventory management is always a pain in games that have so much stuff. I do agree, though, that there are some things that could polish it up a bit. The type sorting is... interesting. However, I think one of my biggest things is the option to sort items that are automatically added to my hot bars. I love that I can select what is automatically added, but I hate that my hot bar has several of the same scrolls in different places on the hot bar. I have been known to spend several minutes scrolling horizontally to find the right scroll that I KNOW I picked up. If there is an option to sort and group the hot bar items I have not found it and that would certainly be something I would use. Finally, while it is not my place to judge glue sniffers, it do love the game that you have created. Masterpiece.

Yeah, Inventory Management has always been an issue since ye olde infinity engine games.

While I wouldn't choose your words, I agree. It's been bad in D:OS2, it still is bad in BG3.

Actually it is something I don't understand. Engine is great, content is great, itemization is great - but I really wonder how can the same team fail so epically at a subsystem of the game that isn't even THAT hard to get right with a little bit of UX consultancy and a 2 person * 2-3 months project?

Especially with people complaining about the irritating cumbersomeness of Larian inventory management for years.

And everyone who is not entirely blind SEES that this is not the way to go.

I personally would suggest having a look at what other companies and maybe mods for other games do.

A few ideas:

* Tagging system
* Automatic vendor trash
* Scroll book
* Automatic "send to camp" for stuff that belongs there anyway
* Favorite item system
* Tabs

* Customization of bags with color, name, logo and other tips to recognize quickly the content.
* Read into bags, firstly while you are selling items to merchant or when the wizard want to learn a spell.
* Automatic association with bags when you loot something: if I tag a bag for SWORD, all the sword i pick (whoever is the member of the group) must be sent into that bag...and so on (also make possible MULTIPLE TAGS for the same bag, not only one). Allow also general tags (melee arms, distant arms, potions, scrolls), also magic or NON magic items tag.
* Create, at least when you are at the camp or at the inn, a GLOBAL inventory within which search and allocate items to companions.
* Create a common inventory for selling items to merchant, also from camp chests and not active companions.
