So now that I've completely taken over the Couriers and immediately ended the mistress - I'd like the option to bring the two Dogs we just rescued into the fold.

It doesn't seem right to just leave them there.

Not with all these doppelgangers around and the earthquakes and whatnot. I mean right?

We should be able to give them names as well. New name new camp new doggos, happier lives, like proper rescues. My Durge, Lae'zel, Minthara and Jaheira are all in complete agreement on this one. There's plenty of supplies and we have two healers who care. Shadowheart I'm sure would agree, and she could probably use the company at camp.

Also after being freed, if you speak to the dogs or use 'speak with animals,' then they are somehow back in their crates again instead of stretching their legs?

That's a minor non-sequitur, but still. Using charm animal to move them out of harm's way is only a temporary solution, since they head back. For now I have just taken over the couriers completely, created some water and laid out some bowls as a stopgap, but I think we should get to do the hold out our hands so they can follow our scent to camp.

You know so we can all play ball together. Especially since we picked up those extra balls in the Shadowlands, clearly for this exact purpose! hehe

The cats seem like they can probably manage well enough, by heading off the rooftops or whatever, nine lives, always landing on their feet and all.

But leaving the doggos to go stray doesn't make much sense. They could just come kick it with Scratch at camp, and that should be an option!

While I agree that more doggies are always good, I think, they are in good hands with the halfling. Scratch even telsl you, that he halfling (I forgot his name) was always good to him and the others.

I mean can we really trust him though?

I'm not so sure! hehe

We've already gotten the scoop from Lens...

And then we had our weapons sized up, and some foggy beach antics to the hilts, so it seems like anywhere we turn could be pretty sketchy and nobody we don't already know is really reliable. Clearly they'd all be safer at camp - for a Three Dog Night!

Although the carpeting is pretty comfortable in the Courier building, and we got the keys and pigeons sorted, (basically as far as the Halfling knows we're the new postmaster in town) I still think some extra dogs at camp couldn't hurt. Picking up stragglers is a win for everyone. Plus the space is pretty spacious at this area's camp, with some nice inside/outside options and room to roam.

The cats can come along too, though I trust them to kind of rule this area already anyway hehe. I'm pretty sure Dog 1 and Dog 2 could find a spot next to whichever companion for the nightly rotation.

ps. also like if they're Scratch's cousins' old pals or cousins who just want to be part of the pack, probably the Halfling dude can come along as well. Maybe to walk em around and play ball while we're out handling demi-gods and shapeshifters hehe. BG3, 3 Dogs, it all makes sense

At the very least the pups could have been considered 'Allies' for the final fight, where you call in the pack to help you out.

I would love to rescue Ketheric Thorms dog. I talked with her and found out, that she isn't fond of the whole Absolute business and that she is weary of what her master had become. She was still loyal to him, but she didn't join the fight and allowed me to search the quarters.
And after the fight, I went back up to see, how she is doing.
I mean it could be, that she died after Ketheric was dead but Isobel didn't die, so maybe the bestest girl is still around.

Oh oh! Oh my goodness! OK alright, going off those last two points - How cool would it be if Squire came back at the very end!

Like we're there in the thick of it, with all the hound pals and when the chips are down, they all "howl at the moon"

The Rainbow Bridge cuts across the planes so Squire can show back up - leading a pack of reinforcements from the Beastlands!!!

Back to full fur for his finale!!! heheh

That would absolutely rad!

They could do it with other the fuzz pals too, something similar. It would be such a great angle for Rangers and such too! Even the cats and bears and birds and such could get in on that one. Or just when you thought it couldn't get wilder with the Dead Three, and Devil deals, we get some Kerberos action sneaking under the fence at the end! heheh

Though I would never send the fur babies into a fight, where they could get killed. I never call for the owlbear cub either. I want them to be save.

@Fylimar

100%, it would 'have' to be like Scratch is with the ball. They just go back to their kennels or the camp after an enemy whacks them.

Scratch has saved the day a bunch of times, coming clutch with the help action.

I find that summons and such make sense, because with them you can magic them away at the last moment, so mechanics like that are good. If if they lose the last hp, and Aylin type thing +1 hp, they yelp and dart off camera. Exit stage left back to safety. Spells like dominate beast are kinda not my favs, charm and animal friendship sound better, mechanically I like the warg angle from GoT or the idea of archtypal spirit animals, but which don't have permanent vfx and battle armor, but just sorta look normal and have the normal coats.

Magic mirror for the doggos would be cool portal hehe
