I recently bought the game and tried to install it on my computer:

Pentium III 550
320 Ram
ATI Radeon 64mb SDR
7GB available

The problem is not in the gameplay as I could not get past the installation. I insert the first disk, it autoplays and starts the install. When it gets to "CDV_Registration_english.url" a little window pops up and tells me to "Please insert the Divine Divinity Install CD 1 in any CD-Rom drive". I tried all 3 disks at this point to no avail. I can not get past this point. I have tried to install the rest of my games on my computer and they all work fine, so I know it is not a CD-ROM problem. I then tried to install Divine Divinity on my wife's computer and it worked there, so I know that it is not a CD problem.

I am stumped on this problem, if it were a perfect world, I'd play this on her computer however it does not even meet the minimum requirements and the game runs terribly choppy.

Thank you for reading this far,
If anyone can help me out with this issue I'd be greatly appreciative..

Thank you

If the computers are networked, just move the Divine Divinity folder from your wife's computer to your own. You might need a registry file (see link below) so the hotfix/patch recognizes that the game is installed and knows where to update files.

Good idea, however the computers are not networked.

Oh well, that would have been a bit faster than the manual install procedure, but isn't required.

Thank you for your help. I followed the link and manually installed it. Thank you again.

However now it is installed but it will not start. I tried the hotfix 2.0 and it said that it detected no installed version of the game. So I am now going to try to search for an answer to this question.

Thank you for your help

Good lord this is getting annoying. I manually installed the game on my computer. I then tried to start the game and it crashes on the loading screen, about halfway through the sword on the bottom (before the main menu). Then, my screen blacks out and goes back to windows. Now, by reading the boards I tried to switch the settings on the config menu. Now I tried every single setting combination, Direct Draw, Direct 3d, Software and every resolution, to all the same effect. I just tried it again, after defragmenting and scan disksing my computer, and my computer totally CRASHED I got a little screen telling me to "Reinstall windows". Luckily everything is fine, but I just want this thing to WORK.

If this has happened to anyone else outthere, please post here, or if you have any ideas of how to fix this problem.

Thanks

Check out the install verification method listed in the manual install procedure post. When you installed it, did you download, edit and 'run' the registry file? The hotfix checks the registry for the install path.

Yes, I did that. Used the hotfix (it ran and installed) then tried again with the same problem all over again. I can not figure this out.

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your ATI card...I had a TON of problems with my Radeon card before I did that...it was a Radeon DDR 32MB, but it's still a Radeon and ATI writes crappy drivers.

Other than that, good luck man, I hate these kinds of problems!

Thank you for your help Raze. I have done everything I could think of, and I am down to where I was when I started. I have officially given up and I am returning the game after a long hard and unvictorious battle. THank you again
