When logging in today I had to accept the EULA again and check the settings for nudity and brightness, as if logging in for the first time. When I got to the main menu I noticed all saves are gone and I can only start a new game.

I play on Windows laptop. I already verified the local files, toggled cloud saves off/on and cleared the LevelCache as suggested in a few other posts. Not sure what to do next. Am I just out of luck?

Thanks for any help!

What does the actual folder for your saves on your computer look like? Is it empty? You can find the save folder here:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public\Savegames\Story

The AppData file is hidden by default so you might have to turn on hidden items first (Under File Explorer's "View" menu check "Show > Hidden Items").

Yes it was empty. I copied the files from the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Debug_Client_Profile_1\Savegames\Story folder now and that seemed to return them. I just hope that won't mess it up again in the future.

In addition, the game does still treat me like a new player. I get all the in-game tips again. Not sure what happened there.

It happened to me as well. =]

Debug_Client_Profile_1/2/3 are folders created when you launch the game multiple times. (Like when you want to make a party made out of 4 custom characters.)

Once the party was created and the cinematic was done playing, I didn't realize that I wasn't on the main instance of the game when I closed the 3 others, so my saves ended up in one of the Debug_Client_Profile folder instead of Public.
