Larian Studios Forums Beyond Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks Closing the character portrait

The portraits of the death knight and main character seem HUGE! They take up a good chunk of the screen.

I know you can make a hotkey to close the 'plate', and get rid of the portrait, but you can't reply to conversations or loot chests or anything with the plate hidden.

Is there an easier way to get them out of the way, maybe moving them?
Also, how do you disable scrolling? If I move my mouse at all, I'm way off the main screen.

I just installed the game last night, and don't remember much about these things from the original game, which I could play in my sleep.

You should probably change your resolution. You can access the game configuration by clicking on configtool.exe in your game directory. 1024/768 is a good choice if your system supports it.


You usually get the chance to configure the first time you play or if you bomb out in the game. When you first install, the game defaults to a good configuration for your computer, but if you bomb out and don't reset it manually, it picks a low one. I had problems with that - having windows overlaying characters, etc.

You can not set the screen to always remain centred on the lead character, but there is a hotkey to recentre the screen focus, and if you click and hold the left mouse button down it will automatically recentre the screen focus.
