I had two piles of gold in my inventory, one at 50,000 one at around 38,000. A shopkeeper in the elven archery had a massive strength charm for sale for around 90,000+. I traded him a bunch of items, plus about 50k in cash for it. When I checked my inventory, I only had around 300 gold left.
I restored the game, dropped 38k outside the door, went in, he didn't have the item I wanted, so I went back outside and the pile I dropped had halved in value (dunno if this is expected behavior).
