So as it stands, the save file limit for all characters share the 35-50 allowed save slots on the PS5. It's an absurdly low number on a game of this size and type. You can easily hit that cap, and be forced to delete saves, when playing the story on a single character.
If you have a second character or new character-itis, you'll hit the cap in a blink. I run a single solo game and a coop with my wife. I inevitably need to delete saves every time I/we play. It's so bad that I do a preparatory save delete prior to starting our coop game on the weekend. And chance are, I'll have to delete again toward the end of the day.
The number of allowed save slots needs to be increased dramatically. If Sony is the issue, and they won't allow any game to use more than X amount of slots (a past issue that may or may not still be in place), then how the game saves needs to be altered. Give each character its own mini profile with its own number of slotsa solution other games of this type have used with great success in the past.
I realize this may not be a quick fix, but something needs to be changed or tweaked. I've set a hard cap of no save over 10 hours old and I'm still forced to agonize over which saves to keep, every dang day, because you never know when the next step in a quest, that you pick up down the line, actually broke hours ago.
