Hi,

Did this happen to anyone else?

I was travelling well south of the temple area, when I came across some imps who wanted me to get a weapon for them to kill a human who they had a grudge against.

This seems to be a quest with several possible outcomes, depending on who you talk to first, and what choice you make.

I got the weapon for them (which was described as a Scythe, although the graphic showed a staff). They offered to let me keep it if I killed Oren, but I said no and so off went the imps with the weapon - presumaby to do it themselves.

Later on I came across Oren's camp and this triggered some words from Oren, First he accused me of betraying him, then he harangued me for a bit and vowed vengeance. The DK made similar threatening speeches and suggested we kill him.

But there was no actual Oren to be seen, so no fight! A search of the area found nobody ( and no body... ).

It looked as if they simply hadn't tested that branch of the code and that I'd been served up the response that belonged with taking up the imps' suggestion that the DK and I should kill Oren.

Was this a general bug, or did some players refuse to kill Oren for the imps, yet still find him at his camp??

(BTW, it didn't mess anything up, so there was no loss and no need to reload and avoid it happening. It just looked rather odd! )

The game has an awful lot of little problems in it--especially Act III--of various sort but like you experienced pointing to either poor beta testing and/or kicking the game out the door at our expense no less to finish beta testing. If you and I had the courage to shelve the game and wait months for Larian to get the feedback from those who don't shelve the game and fix the problems and release another big patch it would go a lot better for us then. Unfortunately diminishing returns may dicatate to Larian that it is done with the game and spending any more on fixing so many little deplorable bugs wouldn't be worth it to their bottom line--something to remember the next time you or I buy another game from Larian.

Even if you use the walkthrough to get you through some quests cleanly, which I did, one of the most irritating and laughable little bugs you might soon discover are several NPCs you talk to who start off with a good deep Raanaaran voice for the basic dialog that suddenly changes to a higher pitch Indian accent.

Good luck.

Chuck
