That is not good. For some reason the game was not successfully completing the save process.
The game saves files to a temporary folder before moving them to a folder without the .tmp extension. This is to prevent a working save from being damaged if there is a problem during the save process when overwriting an existing save.

In Windows Explorer, browse to the '..\Beyond Divinity\savegames' folder, and compare the number of files in the .tmp folder to working saves from a similar point in the game. Depending on the file, missing files might be replaceable with corresponding ones from the next most recent working save, though this might cause other problems. Depending on where is the save process the problem occurred, one or more of the files in the save may be corrupt.

Saved games - ".tmp" extension after prob; LOST!

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game?
Did you install the latest service pack and critical updates for windows, and update your drivers?

Hi Raze
Thanks for your reply. I read the reply you gave to SerAris and tried everything that you suggested and the same kind of thing happened. The files were corrupted even tho I could 'load and play' them. I found things missing just as SerAris did.
There was only one thing for it.... Grit my teeth and start all over again

I gritted my teeth. Started yet another game. saved multiples of saved games but now after getting to the point where I had first encountered the tmp files, it's happening all over again. Getting a bit fed up of having to revert to previously saved games, to go through the same scenario , reach that certain part of the game ( the imp village/ spider forest ) just for the games to be saved as tmp files again. I think it's time to forget this game for awhile until it becomes less frought with technical problems.
BTW Am I the only person having this problem?

I saw this problem once. It seemed to be unhappy with me trying to restart the game and then using the same name as a previous save (even though I had supposedly deleted that save) I'm pretty much sticking with Quicksaves for now since it keeps 5.
