What mainstream songs (not written for games) have an RPG theme? I'd like to know the names of the songs, and bands that could be considered an RPG song. I mean proper songs too, ones with words, not just a tune.

I'll get the ball rolling.

Band: Rainbow
Song: Temple Of The King

One tune is worth naming because it has an RPG name:
Metallica - Call of Ktulu (why Ktulu and not Cthulhu?)

Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark
Blind Guardian - Lord of the Rings (Actually everything by Blind Guardian)
Nightwish - The Siren (Actually many things by Nightwish)
Ayreon - Dragons of the Sea (Actually most of the things by Ayreon)
Edguy - Spirit will remain
Edguy - Pharaoh
Edguy - Crimson Rose
Moonspell - Full Moon Madness
Moonspell - Wolfshade
The Cruxshadows - Return
Rhapsody - Power of the Dragonflame (Actually everything by Rhapsody)
Hammerfall - Hammerfall (Actually everything by Hammerfall)
ManOWar - Warriors of the World (Actually most of the things by ManOWar)
Opeth - Demon of the Fall
Daemonarch - Corpus Herneticum
Finntroll - Trollhammaren
Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys

I can continue but I'll leave the others to fill <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />.

I didn't know you liked Blind Guardian, Rythok <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />.
Actually I do not know BG too well. I know two dozens of songs but if I recall correctly, they have plenty of albums.

Yep I love Blind Guardian, especially their latest album "A night in the Opera"

I also like Nightwish and Rhapsody but I dont listen to them much cause BG takes all the place in my mini-disc player. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

The song "Suburbia" by the PSB is about a novel, my sister has read it at school.

I'll add Battlelore. I just name the group cause most of their songs have an rpg theme.
