The game keeps crashing consistently when I try to go back to Act1: it shows a message that I am about to enter a different region, I click "Yes", it shows a progress bar and consistently crashes at 33%. One weird thing is as it displays the message to confirm the travel to another region, it also gives Tav an empty backpack. Why? I tried to drop that backpack before traveling but it didn't help. Tried it with an older save right before leaving Act 1: even if I try to return back to Act 1 immediately after entering Act2 by going back into the elevator to Underdark, it still crashes. Also tried sending all companions to camp, still crashes.
Tried all the "solutions" posted on Larian's website: cleared level cache, ran the game directly vs via launcher, tried reducing graphics settings to minimum, run in windowed mode, verified/repaired the installation. Nothing helped. I saw a similar report here:

Reported this bug to Larian along with the save game but no response from them so far.
