I'm asking for a spoiler here. I 've been trying to save Minsc from the absolute, but I'm not sure if it is possible at all.
I got to the cistern and thought that if I could keep Minsc alive and kill the dopplegangers and the rest of the Bhaalists, he would realize that he was fooled. But that doesn't seem to happen. I did manage to kill every enemy except Minsc, but he keeps fighting. Cast a "domination" spell on him, which entirely stopped the battle. But when the domination runs out, a new battle starts with only Minsc against us.
So Jaheira leapt to her death in true kamikaze style at Moonrise towers. Does it make sense to continue to try to befriend Minsc or is it impossible without Jaheira ?

Minsc needs to be knocked unconscious not killed - a tab on the ability ui "passives" one button turns on non leathal combat. This passive does not automatically revert.

No, I tried it, when he wakes up he accuses us of having killed Jayheera, and he attacks again.

Thanks for the info, so I can turn this page and stop looking for ways to avoid making Boo an orphan.
I would have loved to adopt the Hamster too, like Scratch and Owly Mc Owlface, but it won't let me.
