Hi.

When we are fighting we have some damage and exp figures flowing above the characters' heads. They are scrolling extremely fast and don't even freeze when we pause the game. I have a very hard time reading it. Is there any way to make them scroll slower, or even make them freeze when the game is paused, maybe through a parameter in a config file, a switch on the command line, or something?

Thanks.

sadly, the answer is no to all questions.
your choices are to run in a lower resolution (thus seeming to increase the font size) and read them, or to take ocassional screenshots and review the pics.
the game does not offer a screenshot ability, so raze has pointed many to the tiny utility pngshot
neither option is truly helpful in your queried manner, but the second can prove quite useful in other regards.

All of that verbose is merely telling you how much damage you did to a creature (or it did to you). The damage you deal is normally on the right, and the monster's on the left (or green when its low damage or it has missed).

After you killed the monster it will give you the amount of experience you gained for each party member.

And no you cant make it stay longer (sowwy) , but i must admit that it would be caos if it DID stay longer, especially when you do a spell that kill a couple of monsters around you (with more comming), i would rather see who is comming than have a gree and red cloud of damage and XP floating around my head.

You might also want to just get rid of it all (that way it wont bug you that you cant read it all fast enough by turning verbose off in the game settings.

yeah, maybe some text based little screeny would solve the difficulty! something like Fallout s screeny.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/alien.gif" alt="" />

personally, i liked DD where it stayed on-screen with the pause button. this allowed a screenshot to be taken, which is how i analyze damage by weapon type etc.
simply showing experience doesn't provide the answers - it must be dynamic.
