Hello Larian studios.

I really want to try out baldur's gate 3 but I have found the selection of races not to my tastes in terms of what characters I want to play., These races that I want to play are not conventional races and are very different from what most players pick in their playthroughs. These races being giant monstrous races such as ogres, minotaurs and demons, the kind of giant demons that Raphael has as his personal bodyguard.

Adding these races as additional options to baldur's gate 3 and if they can get some unique interactions with other races such as an ogre player being chummy with other ogre npcs as one of many examples, that would be fantastic.

There is an ogre mod on the nexus, but it is very underdeveloped, doesn't allow any customization and any gear you buy or pick up cannot be equipped or shown on your character, which in my opinion kills the immersion aspect of the game in my opinion when playing that race, which is the fault of the mod developer for barely putting any effort into that mod.

The character I had in mind was an ogre sorcerer or warlock who is seeking personal growth or domination of others for his own personal gain, a character that I cannot play atm due to not having that option.

I would also like to have the option of having a more monstrous voice for my ogre instead of the typical young man or women voice options for my ogre since those voice options wouldn't fit my ogre character being twice or three times the size of a regular person.

You have made a great game larian, but it could be made even better adding these options to the game for those that want to play this type of character since there is literally nothing to pick for those that want to play this type of character.

I will trust your judgement and hope hope to hear something out of your teams about this real soon. Others are also free to join in on this discussion as they may have something else to add or have an opinion of their own. I look forward to hearing what they have to xay on the matter as well.

As cosmopolitan WotC, and by extension Larian has pushed DnD, I think you will get your “Demons and Ogres are people too!” wish. But not today. They are not *that* far off just having different species being any more then a graphical skin as it is. Ogres, half-ogres, orcs, hobgoblins and even demons probably are not far off.

There was a time when a Teifling or Drow getting a league within a major city would summon a small detachment to figure out what in the nine hells was going on. Because 99.8% of the time, it probably wasn’t good and throwing them into a cell was the right call to make. Had to be a good player to tabletop RP one of those.

Nowadays? More modern allegory and less world distinction.

Think you will have to live with mods for now. Ogres are still big, strong, non-charismatic (important for locks and sorcerers) dummies for players to beat and to beat on. The moment you make them selectable from the get go you begin to humanize them. Fantasy species differentiation becomes conflated with human ethnicity and cultural concerns. Those defining traits have to be removed or seriously curtailed and those species made more generic.

At that point your just playing another 5e skin job with a big character model, but they are not ready to normalize those creatures just yet.

5e options for playing minotaurs, hobgoblins and full orcs already exist, you're most likely going to have luck with mods like fantastical multiverse, which is dedicated to adding many of the non-PHB races.

Although, you may be disappointing to realise that the playable versions of some of the larger races have all been given a down-size to medium.

Fantastical multiverse has not been updated in a while and feels abandoned. Also the larger races have no customization and cannot equip gear you buy or loot, making them no different from a transformation with a fixed character model, and that's boring and unimmersive as all hell.

Fantastical multiverse also does not have ogres as a playable option, so nothing for me there either. Which is why atm I have to rely on larian to actually do some rigging and add customization options for these races, which would also go a long way for other mods that wish to add other larger races.

You mean Devil bodyguards, Devils and Demons are mortal enemies, Orthons like the one in Shar's temple are Devils, the main difference is that Devils are Lawful Evil like Lex Luthor or Doctor Doom, While Demons are Chaotic Evil like Joker or Carnage, a Demon wouldn't care about contracts or holding up their terms of the bargain, a Demon PC would have the personality of Durge but without any redeeming qualities.
