DD and now BD offer a big world and lots of choices. My "hero" does some things a little differently, and was wondering about the playing habits of others ... here are a few of MY quirks:
[color:"orange"]I save all the pillows and blankets I can pick up.
[color:"red"]Every alchemy bush gets saved - even though I have no idea what I'm gonna do with them!
[color:"orange"]I don't spend experience points until there is a specific weapon or piece of armor I "really" want to use.
[color:"red"]I'm scared to spend skill points - so I hoard them in the hopes that someday I'll need them.
[color:"orange"]EVERY tree trunk, spider web, barrel, etc. gets examined - I'm always afraid I'll miss that great piece of phat lewt.
[color:"red"]I wear equipment with the highest LUCK I can find - even if it isn't that good otherwise.
[color:"orange"]I'm a charm hoarder too - scared to put them in a piece of equipment that I'll want to discard in the next act.
[color:"red"]I'm not a battlefield jumper - moving back and forth in the hopes of finding the vendors restocked with that wonderful item - somehow that seems like cheating.
[color:"orange"]I hate to get a quest and not complete it ... and I'll admit to jumping to these boards every now and then for a little "help".
[color:"yellow"] SO ... WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR QUIRKS???

i'm a pixel farmer; i can't stand for there to be one dark spot on the map i haven't checked out.
i'm a freaking pack rat. i can't stand to sell anything i might even remotely need someday. no matter how many vendors i find i'm always on the ragged edge of overencumberance because i can't get rid of anything.
that includes any book, manuscript, or ragged document in the game. i have in my inventory (my *mage* low strenght inventory) every written item encountered so far in the game.

hehe - chud mentioned all the books and manuscripts ... in Act One I found one of those nice "Japanese-looking?" pictures that brought back DD memories and started a collection - but I haven't run across any others??? =Gneen

Hi,
Everyone has their own style. No one's is any better than another's if you are enjoying what you're doing. I like to use the best equipment I can find. I use the charms that are good for my warrior, the rest I sell. Like the ones that pertain to a mage or would help a thief. I sell whatever I feel I won't need. I examine and smash everything I see. I love to fight everything I come across.
Enjoy your game.

Gneen, you sound like a natural to play Morrowind.
You can take over a house in Morrowind (or download somebody's plug in, or even build your own). Then you can collect and display all your trophies!
I remember a guy who had a huge collections of pillows (maybe it was you??).
Others had different rooms for each item they collected. One guy hoovered up all the lanterns (or was it candles?) and decorated a section of town with them. And so on.
I built myself a room with the Morrowind editor and spent many happy hours furnishing it and then displaying and storing my loot. Fortunately though, I can be selective and I only kept interesting or unusual items. Plus of course a good cross section of weapons, clothing and armour. My favourite was a chest containing all the books in the game, which I found in the editor items list already fully stocked.
So in BD I was able to resist the urge to keep stockpiling everything. I even stopped smashing all the barrels.
I have all the tendencies you mentioned above but, apart from leaving quite a lot of points unspent (not really needed) I learned about half way through to stop fussing over which charms to use, which items to keep, and so on.
The one obsession I find impossible to give up is the 'pixel farming' that chud mentions. I think of it as 'lawn mowing' and my characters will solemnly plod up and down the map until it's nice and tidy, and all is exposed.
So the DK and I were often to be seen lurching round dungeons like a couple of drunks. Not lost, just sweeping up the darkness...

Well, I'm a pixel farmer, like some people. I tend to hoard charm globes and line them up neatly by color at my "storage" spot. They're sufficiently expensive that I'm reluctant to sell them in the event they may be of any use later.
I used to hoard dwarven ale for some reason. Stopped doing that recently because it was silly.
This particular games permits a quirk that most other games don't, which is color-coordinating your gear and getting outfits in various colors. I did the same thing in Everquest once by making myself a suit of skintight black armor just because it looked cool, even though its stats weren't that great.
So I like black gear. So sue me.

Ahem... as my Kiyana only displayed her natural beauty in Shadow armour: I spent a long time searching for a complete set => and only orange coloured (best quality). I'm glad, I'm not the only one going for black (and a wee bit of glimmer). And I didn't like her with a crossbow - a bow showed more elegance. As for the rest: I like to keep my inventory tidy, so I had everything in rows, neatly seperated (specially the gold heaps ). I sold everything I didn't need. "Travel lightly" is my way to play. Kiya

Chud: buncha freakin' goths.....
; ) Ha! Better than an over burdened pack rat, sniffing in every corner and turning rubbish around - we're the elegant sort Kiya

Certaintly! I can't go running around saving the world if I have 10 claymores in my bag! I will use one, maybe have my secound favorite one, in a nice order with my axe, dagger, and bow. ( I love zooming in with me firing the bow sideways! ) The gold, can't have it everywhere! Need to have it in nice rows!
. . .along with my books all sorted in rows according to subject! Raanar messages for later, on the left. Black Ring recrutment messages, on the right. In the middle lets put some of these random books that might be useful, lets see, cooking goes here...

Uh, we are elegent? Oh yes, of course!
