Hello!

My mom is 100 hours into her playthrough and loving the game! Unfortunately, after updating to the latest patch, she called me on discord frustrated with the weirdest bug description. So I took a look and did some investigating and I've run out of ways to troubleshoot.

As you can see in attached images, upon loading the main menu, the main menu buttons appear... and then after 1 second, they disappear in sequence, from top to bottom, and never appear again. The buttons are still interactable though! So we tried clicking where the "Continue" button is supposed to be, and got the game to load.

Once loaded, all characters were invisible. So weird! So cool! Very unplayable

Not only are all characters invisible in the world, they're also invisible in UI screens. They still exist, as in, they can be moused over and clicked on.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Does anyone else have any ideas as to how to resolve it? I've not found any similar reports here, on steam, or on reddit, which makes me think this might be a very fringe issue with a weird trick to fixing it.

Played on PC / GeForce Now / GTX 4080
Directx and Vulkan both tried.
Restarting the game, saving and loading, using f10 to refresh the UI, don't have an impact.
No mods
No previous issues.

I think it's a Geforce Now problem. I loaded the game up from my PC and it worked fine, But alot of players are complaing about other issues. Geforce is repatching right now.

Same thing happening to me too. No buttons at main menu too. I tried to change Graphic options to lowest to ultra and as OP said tried both DX and Vulcan but nothing changed. I play on GFNow servers. Please fix asap.

I checked GFN awhile ago and it showed as patching again, but it still is broken.

Latest GEForce driver I see is 546.01, date 10/31.

The game is down for maintenance.

This is NOT Ge Force Now specific. As I mentioned in my post 14 hours ago, I am using Steam and many Steam users are having the exact same problem. Sorry that I sound frustrated but honestly, this game is so BIG now, data wise, that two days ago I found my hard drive almost completely filled by it alone. I only had 4 games on my pc including BG3. Now both of the other two computers in my house have gone down and the two kids that used those computers either use this pc or my ps5 constantly and drive me insane! I am losing my Mind! I need a release from these kids, please! lol! Give me back my bg3!

I can confirm that this is not a GeForce Now related issue.
I have the exact same problem on my Steam Deck. I have installed the GOG version through heroic game launcher. The version in the main screen shows as v4.1.1.3905231.
I am launching it with no specific Proton settings.
The only mod I have is "Party limit begone" but not the patched exe.
If I can help with further details let me know.

For anyone who needs it:

This issue - in a lot of cases - seems to be related to leftover Patch .pak files from before Patch 4.

- Navigate to your Baldur's Gate 3 Install Folder's "Data" folder.
- Find every .pak starting with "Patch" or "Patch_"
- Delete them.
- Restart Baldur's Gate 3.

With Patch 4, most of the pre-existing patches are now referenced in the PsoCache file. Deleting the Patch .pak's themselves seems to solve the invisible character/missing main menu button issue.
This has been a confirmed fix for many Nvidia users, and a multitude of AMD users.

Did you get this resolved? I am running into the same issue and the .pak file deletion doesn't work for me. My GeForce drivers are updated to the 10/31 one and I've tried reinstalling the game completely and without any mods.

I tried a complete uninstallation (with steam folder deletion) and reinstallation again, after you replied. I am still getting this issue (sorry to hijack this thread - figured I'd stay here rather than make a new post about the same issue. Is there anything I can do or someone I can contact? If anyone could provide additional insight that would be deeply appreciated! I’m still having this problem. I’ve tried deleting the old patch .pak files, disabling my mods, and updating my drivers yet every time I load up my save file every single character model is invisible, including interactive NPCs (ie: Dammon in Baldur’s Gate) please help because this issue doesn’t happen to my boyfriend’s game on PC even though his graphics card is lower than mine with all the same mods.
