Going to repost what I put on reddit just now:

I was just playing around with BG3's graphics-settings and had Afterburner open as well, changing my OC-settings while the game was open on a busy scene at Sorcerous Sundries.

Everything worked fine until I decided to alter DLSS/DLAA settings.

I'm running BG3 with DLAA enabled and trying to switch that off instantly crashed the game. For a split second I did see the game's "keep this resolution?"-dialogue before the CTD.

Thought it could've been the fact that I was messing around with Afterburner "on the fly", so I tried it again without it and the game still crashed the second I tried to switch DLAA to "off".

Since I hadn't touched my DLSS/DLAA settings in weeks, I can't be 100% sure this is a patch 4 thing. But I did play around with those settings at some point prior to Patch 4 and this never happened before.

Haven't tried changing any other detail settings in there, so I don't know if those would crash the game as well. The only thing I did was switch on/off the FPS-limiter and change the limiter's value a couple of times and switching on/off "slow HDD mode". The only (attempted) change that resulted in a CTD was me trying to set DLAA to "off".

No crashlog in the BG3-folder, BTW.

Some system specs:
i7 14700 KF, stock speeds
MSI Z690 Tomahawk Motherboard
2x16 GB G.Skill Trident Z 3600 CL16 DDR4
GF RTX 4070

Win 11 Pro

BG3 running Vulkan

All drivers for the GPU and the rest of the PC are up to date and I hadn't had a crash in BG3 for weeks now. If I just play the game it doesn't crash for me randomly, even during hours and hours of playing BG3.
Crash happened both with default GPU-clocks and with a manual OC on GPU and VRAM.

1440p resolution in-game, borderless window, quality set to custom - but everything set to highest/Ultra besides clouds and fog, which are set to "high". DLAA is enabled.

Probably talking to myself here, but the hotfix that just dropped did not fix the issue for me.

With Hotfix applied, I tried to switch DLAA off and the game instantly CTDed again.

Still on Vulkan, haven't tested DX11 yet.

Going to punt this one back up top.

Hotfix 11 also hasn't fixed this. Game still insta-CTDs when I try to deactivate DLAA.

Had a similar thing happen with a crash when trying to mess about with DLSS and anti-aliasing video settings.

Prior to patch 4 I had been running Vulkan as well. I switched to Dx 11 cause I couldn't figure it out.

I've randomly switched between these two a few times, even though I have no preference there and no skin in the game on that one. The only thing that grinds me to a halt in any game is audio stutter or audio crackle, I can handle most visual annoyances, like the occasional acid tripping DLSS visuals, but never audio stuff which will drive me instantly into the settings to try and find a solution.

I was able to fix an audio stutter issue I was having with patch 3 by turning off bloom in Vulkan, prior to that I had been using Dx11, but the more recent crash thing there had me switch back again. It feels kinda random.

Oh and I'm using an MSI Raider laptopn GE68 hx13v, so i9 with the RTX 4060, that they were pushing out the door with various sales. Screen on that model is 16:10 so basically upscaling from a 1200p to 1600p via the DLSS I guess? I honestly haven't messed with it much cause it had been pretty buttery thus far. I didn't really expect to play it all crazy heavy weight, and I'm perfectly happy with a 1080/1200p, cause laptop and all, but I was getting better performance from DLSS than downscaling the resolution. Obviously crashing had me exploring whatever options would avoid that happening, hence the switcheroo.

Anyhow I don't all the ins and outs, but just figured it was worth a reply since I saw pretty much the same as the OP.

ps. tried Vulkan again just now to double check - same deal with CTD when attempting to change from Quality to Balanced and the such. This time I got the crash report though so sent the ticket along. Switching back to DX11 it works as normal.

I just experienced this problem 3 times in a row. I had 5 crashes today. 2 loading saves and 3 while configuring graphics settings. Since every single time the game crashes my settings get wiped out it was very difficult to get past. I think switching back to DX11 helped.
