Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Mac & Windows Version Desync = No Crossplay for BG3 right now

The latest patch for PC on 11/3 updated the game version. Because Mac did not receive this update, they are on the game version that PC was on prior to 11/3. This version mismatch has made play between Mac & PC impossible. There have been some fixes discovered on Steam forums but they do not seem to work. When may we expect this to be fixed? Thank you.

Signed up to the forums so I can cross my arms and tap my foot while this is still broken. My D&D group is playing through this and it's 3 Mac users and myself who is running it on Linux. I've seen workarounds you can do on the Mac but haven't seen or figured out any for PC (I even tried to download an earlier manifest, but I couldn't figure it out), and I'm not about to have 3 people screw with their systems just to let me in. I'm currently just watching while one does screenshare on Discord.

Basically same complaint. Why would they release a non compatible version update like this? Just borked anyone using multi player. Would be nice if I could select to use the older version at least, because whatever they fixed with the new one isn't worth not being able to use multiplayer at all. So, so frustrating. Not only that but I haven't been able to find any information on when they plan to address this massive screw up. Anyone else hear something about it?

The only thing I've seen is Larian posting on this Nazi website a good 6 days ago. We're all left languishing since then.

Another update on Windows, still nothing for the Mac a day later. If they keep throwing patches to PC without keeping up on the Mac side without some reasonable threshold for version mismatching, then crossplay (and my reason for buying the game) is essentially dead.

Mac just updated, now in parity with Windows. Hopefully this is it and I can fade into obscurity on here. It's been a pleasure complaining with you all!

Even worse, the latest update, 4.1.1.3911062 is more deeply broken the previous one. Under the previous one, if you changed the local Info.plist file to match the Windows version, you could play multiplayer with Mac and Windows players. Under the new "hotfix", it throws a new error about "different mod" versions even if you aren't playing with mods.

Brutally disappointing for Mac players.
