To stop her engine from overheating until we find a cure? It’s entirely within the players capabilities at level 12, and it can be easily reversed. Seems way better than the alternative.

Edit: Specifically, Flesh to Stone, cast-able by a level 11 Wizard or Warlock

becouse if im not mistaken when yu got Petrify its like yu are banished.. yu will not get old and nothing like that..
just like happen to Minsc in the game.. he stayed Mad in Stone in the midle of the City for dont know how many Years..
Even midle Finger say that she used to visit hin as statue..haha
(Unless somoene Shatter Yu.. yu will be alive.)

its not the good ending for anyone.. but yu at least stay alive untill someone in the future Learn how to fix her engine..
(DLC in the way)
shit dude.. pretty F. Smart.

Depends if you're romancing her you might have to petrify yourself as well so you also don't get old, like twin spell it with a sorcery point.

I feel like an ending where both the player character and Karlach are pillars of stone is kinda worse than the existing endings haha

Like i Said.. its no Perfect ending for Nobody..
But she would Still Be alive and in the Future.. someone could Fix her Heart
(DLC in the Way)
then yu make a New Roster of Heros and make a DLC in avernus to Save her..
thats not the Perfect ending for her Fans..
But she would be alive and well in stone.
(like a said it works if im not wrong.. like a Banished.. yu can stay in that form for 1000 years and no time will pass for you.)
unless some asshole go there a shattered her.. she will be ok.

they can even gave us a Chance to Fight Zariel Face to Face.
just to smash the floor with her. haha
(not kill her becouse that would broke the DeD Lore i beleave but at least smash her really hard.)
and make her broke the Contract perhaps
so she can be fixed and free.
or she kill her and took her Place. that could work too.

There are better ways like just going to a plane which is equally hot like Avernus.

Like true resurrection or a simple clone spell.

Heck, you have up to 5th level spells.... it seems like there's no reason at all why any kind of death that removed the engine, followed by standard resurrection, wouldn't work just fine.

They really didn't try very hard to cover up the massive plot holes, unfortunately, or address them... and they could very easily have done so, if they'd cared to. For example, if the role of Withers was served by a fate-weaver intermediary of some sort - a specialised archon or possibly even an inevitable if it was important enough - then the issue of "why doesn't his rez fix this" can easily be solved with internal lore; if what your overseer is doing is not, truly, resurrecting you but rather, due to the mandates of fate, winding your thread back before it was severed, so that your path can continue, then this can comfortably explain why all of the super-special-unique problems that everyone has, tadpoles included, aren't resolved when they're brought back.

I imagine it's because, by the time we prevail in the final confrontation, she's ready to blow. If you're suggesting that we petrify her before that, then I suppose that's an option, but she'll need an entirely different ending. Perhaps one where you, Dammon, and Wyll ponder over what to do and where to go as she gazes upon you in her petrified state.

No, but see like, Gale literally has the spell to do it right then and there. It’s a 6th level spell. Flesh to Stone.

Gale has a true rez spell lying around. Let her die. Let him use that scroll. She will come back without an engine

I mean, there's literally a thread that's over a hundred pages long that goes over, in great detail, about how there are dozens of possible solutions to the engine problem that the game just doesn't let you try. There's a reason folks are frustrated with the way Karlach's story ends.
Also, reading my 5e PHB, you wouldn't even need true resurrection, a basic resurrection spell would work (according to the PHB it "closes all mortal wounds and restores any missing body parts" which would presumably include Karlach's missing heart if you removed the engine from her corpse), and that's a 7th level spell. If we can't find at least one level 13 cleric willing to help us after we literally saved Baldur's Gate, there's something strange going on. For that matter, Shadowheart and/or the PC would quite possibly *be* a level 13 cleric not long after the events of the game.
Here's hoping we get some resolution to the problem in a later patch/Definitive edition.
