So I cast Spirit Guardians with Shadowheart and that was fine. I know I cannot use more than one spell with concentration so I checked whether or not Sanctuary required concentration and it does not. So I cast Sanctuary on myself and instantly Spirit Guardians stopped working. I also tried And the thing is that when I cast Shield of Faith (that requires concentration) and combine it with Sanctuary it does work.

Spirit Guardians works fine also when I cast Mirror Image. And with Shield of Faith active I can cast both Sanctuary and Mirror Image just fine. I get all 3 effects.

But the combination with Spirit Guardians and Sanctuary does not work. In fact, when I cast Sanctuary on myself and then Spirit Guardians, Spirit Guardians just fizzles out and Sanctuary is just active suddenly until the end of my turn. So it does count it as an attack, even though I haven't dealt damage yet. I can cast Spirit Guardians on myself and then Sanctuary on someone else so that combination works.

In short:
-Spirit Guardians + Sanctuary = Sanctuary for 10 turns and Spirit Guardians is deactivated
-Sanctuary + Spirit Guardians = Sanctuary ends at the end of the turn (even though it was cast in that turn) + Spirit Guardians fizzles out
-Spirit Guardians + Sanctuary on another target = Both spells work
-Spirit Guardians + Mirror Image = Both spells work

This doesn't make any sense. It should be clear from the descriptions if this combination doesn't work and Spirit Guardians just fizzling out and ending Sanctuary on top is even worse. Surely this is a bug? And if this is really working as intended then this should be updated in the spell descriptions. Right now, afaik, there is nothing that suggest that casting those two spells will cause you issues. I mean it might be that Sanctuary is treated like invisibility but then casting Spirit Guardians after Sanctuary should then end the "Invisible" status and just allow Spirit Guardians to stay, just like an attack from Invisibility still works.

I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, 'wouldn't it be much worse if life *were* fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them?'

Being able to run around with spirit guardians while under sanctuary would be hilarious.

I'm not talking about 2 concentration spells. Spirit Guardians is a concentration spell but Sanctuary isn't.

Well, I'm not saying you should be able to and the Spirit Guardians would stop working as soon as you hit (or miss) a target with the aoe range, for example, but even outside of combat you can't combine these two and there's no rule reason that I can detect why you shouldn't be able to. If they say, well, it's too powerful then so be it. But then they should clarify that in the spell descriptions because it's not clear now. And Particularly when you cast Sanctuary first and then cast Spirit Guardians, the Sanctuary spell should be replaced and not cause Spirit Guardians to fail. In my opinion of course.
