Since the poison cloud still lingers in the air if the caster's concentration is broken, it should still cause damage. My observations seem to confirm this, but I'm not sure. Another of my not-so-sure observation (since I don't see it often) is that if the caster lost the concentration but the poison cloud is still present, the caster can still recast Cloudkill without using another spell slot and regain concentration. Can anyone confirm this too? If so, that's a pretty good deal isn't it? Usually a broken concentration means you lose the spell effect and you lose the spell slot. But it seems neither is true for Cloudkill. To remove the Cloudkill effect, the enemy actually has to waste a spell, such as Gust of Wind, which they never do. If all this is true, Cloudkill is a winner all around.

Formally, the cloud *should* dissipate the moment concentration is lost, just like any other concentration AoE. If it's not doing this, I'd recommend submitting a bug report.

In my video capture below, 0:00 shows Gale's Cloudkill concentration being broken, and the poison cloud does go away right away. But at 0:54, he is still able to recast it without consuming another level 5 spell slot, and regain concentration. Is this a bug or not?

As a note, if you ever come across something like this and you're not sure if it is a bug or not, then report it (Here). The worst that can happen is that they'll tell you it's working as intended. the best, that they fix it.
