BG3 is really big and fantastic with a high stakes world altering plot. Personally I wouldn't mind if they now used the assets and engine to create some smaller scale more personal adventurers around the forgotten realms designed around more specific mechanics. While being totally unaware who holds the rights of or how these things are approved, If I could request anything it would be Icewind dale 3.
IWD and IWD 2 were gems spawned out of the success of the original Baldur's gate. Even though the games were called Icewind Dale, they actually spent most of their time in a small frontier area to the west of the Ten towns and Dale in the Spine of the World (Kuldahar valley). This area hasn't been expanded on outside of these titles so it's untouched enough to exercise a lot of creative freedom. Also similarly to how BG3 begins just after Descent into Avernus having just concluded, Rime of the Frostmaiden could work as a similar prequel event that destabilizes the area. To compensate for being smaller scale and to differentiate itself from BG3 I'd love to see more specific mechanics or highlighting of a specific theme. In the case of a cold frontier area like Icewind Dale and with the prequel/concurrent event being Rime of the Frostmaiden I think a more survival themed campaign with much more scarcity of supplies would be fitting. Dealing with extreme cold could also be an interesting mechanical challenge.
Don't get me wrong I love how big and detailed and intricate BG3 is and I hope they make another big high stakes adventure, but I sort of miss the days of smaller game releases and stories filling out the world along side the big release.
