The game is literally unplayable. Pls take this seriously because on SteamDeck you disabled the larians launcher so there is no other way to report this just in this forum section.

And here it's clear that no one looking into the serious bugs.

I actually looking for a way to get back my money.

I play on PC so I’m not sure if this will help you, but you can enter a phrase into the launch options for BG3 on Steam to make it skip the Larian launcher altogether. So if the Larian launcher is the problem, going directly from Steam to the game should cause the game to launch.

I had this exact problem randomly a few months ago, and this fixed it.

The phrase was something like -skip launcher—
Entered into the launch options for the game on Steam
Or —skip launcher-
You may be able to find the exact phrase by googling

Edit: Here it is, this might work

https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/15iqgfb/psa_skip_launcher_on_steam/#

--skip-launcher

It's all over the internet. No one on steam deck is able to play BG3 after the update.

For all Steam Deck players experiencing issues, the fix is to roll back to release_patch4_hf1 using Steam's built in Beta feature. Wait for the rollback download and then boot.

Not just Steamdeck, but anyone who is playing on Linux.

I wasn't able to play with my group for more than a week because of the Win/Mac version desync, and now this.

This won't work here: even with --skip-launcher Steam still runs the launcher, it just doesn't appear to the user.

The problem we face with hotfix 11 is that a dll is missing in our Proton prefixes (CefSharp.Core.Runtime v117.2.40.0) and the launcher immediately crashes.

I'm not sure about the degree of control one has on the Steamdeck, but on a regular Linux desktop one can just symlink bin/bg3_dx11.exe to Launcher/LariLauncher.exe to actually bypass the launcher.

I appreciate the help! But, I wasn't able to get this to do anything different. You're just doing
Code
ln -s bin/bg3_dx11.exe Launcher/LariLauncher.exe
in the base BG3 dir and then launching from Steam?

Double post because of breakthrough. Again, this isn't for steamdeck specifically, but on Linux using Proton, you can right-click on the game -> Properties -> Compatibility, then choose Proton Hotfix from the dropdown. Just used it and I'm in and playing right now. Hope this helps!

Classics Linux gaming moment.

Glad I postponed re-installing BG3 on my Archlinux btw machine.

Sorry, I realize my explanation wasn't clear. My bad. From the "Launcher" directory, move the existing LariLauncher.exe out of the way then run:
Code
ln -s ../bin/bg3_dx11.exe LariLauncher.exe
This is due to how relative symlinks are resolved (always from the directory containing the link itself).

Sadly this is not the solution. It disabled the multiplayer function between cloud gaming and Linux or SteamDeck user's.

Not perfect but decent news for SteamDeck user's.
I got a response from Valve with an official temporary fix.

1. First, do you have any third-party utilities installed like Decky or CryoUtils? If so, could you try removing them and re-test?
2. For BG3, just to get us working from a baseline, you can untick the Force Compatibility option in the Compatibility tab
3. Could you try running BG3 from Steam in Desktop mode and let us know if that allows a successful launch or not?

So pont 1-2 was not working and it was irrelevant to me because 1. I don't installed cryo. 2. I uninstalled decky and I still had the problem.
But on desktop mod the game started a little bit slower but it runs one again.
I am so glad for this.
