I thought it was really cool that you could leave Lae' Zel in the cage and she'll up in a different part of the game. Same with Shadowheart.

Also, are those the only two with more than one recruitment opportunity?

If not recruited, in Act 2 Lae-zel is dead.

of course not, I (when I failed 2 checks to save Gale) naively believed that he, at least as in dos 2, would appear, but no, they just disappear from the world

in game file we have lines
where not recruiting companions is enemy in final battle. This lines not use now. And it's just 1 replic.

I was cruising through the dialog files and saw those and was confused how you would get them. Thanks for the sensible explanation, although

This is in Act 1, but Wyll shows up on his own if you
recruit Karlach.

I'm not sure if this happens in Act 1 or Act 2, but if the Grove/Goblin situation auto-completes, Halsin will show up at your camp so you can start those quest lines.

In any case, you can leave the Gith and Shadowheart at the beginning or move them and then they suddenly reappear somewhere later in Act 1.


Gale can be rescued from the stone or not.

I haven't found any other option so far. Wyll will come to you either way, at least if you take Karlach with you and don't kill him.

I haven't tried it any other way yet. For example, leaving him standing for now, killing Karlach anyway and then seeing what happens to Wyll.


I haven't tried much else with Karlach either. One method you could try would be to kill the Palas straight away without talking to Karlach and then not go to her but see what happens. But then you shouldn't approach Wyll about it either. Whether that would just fizzle out is a good question and would have to be tested.


I also don't know whether Astarion will stay on the beach for all eternity or whether he'll get lost somewhere else if you don't speak to him.


What happens to Halsin if you simply don't visit him in the fortress at all, but just play things out until the fight in the grove? Whether he then dies in the dungeon or simply appears is a good question.


That's all there is at the beginning. The rest of the companions will appear afterwards.


I think it's quite successful if you fill companions with life in such a way that they reappear in a situation later in the game.

Halsin atack yu at Camp when yu avoid his quest and Side with Goblins.. Like Wyll atack yu at Camp when yu Recruit Karlach First..
(Some How he Escapes and discover yu are the responsible for Slaying the Grove.)
He Show up in the Grove if yu Save then without Rescue Hin too.. i tested Both ways already.. just to See How the Game Would React..

Only Shadow and Lae'Zel can be Recruited Later if Skiped at the beach.. all the Others will Stay at there Place..
Wyll disapear From the Grove if yu Kill or Recruit Karlach, he will Vanish if yu Kill Her.

Gale and Astarion stays at the Beach didant Notice for How Long.. becouse i Never went Back There to see if they were there yet..

And Shadow e Lae'Zel Later Recruit Makes Sense for the History..
they Both are the Most Important Companions for your Tale for Real..
Both of then Have the Greateste Stake on the entire Tale..
Shadow becouse she has the artifact and Lae'zel becouse she is a Gyth and for Lore Sake all Gyth are your Best Option when facing a Mind Flayer.. for Real.
The Game From the Start Make this Clear For You.. they Both are the Most Important Companions and the First Ones yu Find in the Ship, Never Avoid Then if yu want a Complet Experience.. no Joke.
Already Tested a Run with all of then, with only Shadow and Laezel and all other Origins testing all compositions..
and they Both are Allways the Most Complete Experience i Have in the Game..
(even in the Game when i Only Bring Both of then Felt Amazing..)
if yu avoid one of then yu will be Skiping amazing Quests that will increase the stake for your Tale actually..
yu can do Both of there Quests without then.. but its cooler when they are around.. changes a Lot..

(all the Others Companions even so they are Cool and have something nice they are Just Along for the Ride.. especially Astarion.. His Tale Has Nothing to do with the entire Plot of the Game when yu stop to Think..)
i Like Hin.. But His Tale Has no Stake in the Main Plot, changes Nothing in the Game when yu Kill or Skip Hin yu can even Kill Casador Yourself like a Bonus Mid Boss.

Wyll if you Skip yu will have to Find Ansur Yourself.. Manageble but most people Skip becouse didant Know about when dont Bring Hin..
Gale you will just Lose the Secret Iten in the Vault, like Wyll yu can go there and Get it even if yu dont Bring Hin..
But its Not the Same the game will not gave you the quest and you will have to find yourself like Ansur Battle..
and Karlach felt like astarion.. Changes Nothing in my Game when i Skip/kill Her.
(i even think its Better becouse yu Get the Legendary armor for Wyll in AC 1, Sword from the Fake Palas and avoid all the Bugs she Brings for the Game.)
And His Sword will Carry yu untill yu Get the Phalar Aluvre or The Sword from the Lady in Cresch that Thing is Broken even if yu are not Gith.. just for the Iniciative the sword gave yu.
when i Play as Hexablade i use this Cresch Sword till act 3.. even the one yu Find in the Mind Flayer Colony its not Better then this One.. trust me.

But None of Then will be recruited at AC 2
if you Avoid Shadow the Artifact will Find your Way to your Hand..
and Lae'zel is Killed by the Patrol..
