If you travel back to areas of Act I after starting Act II, you may run into an issue with Halsin where he doesn't go to the lakeshore. If this happens, cast Crown of Madness on Art after using Darkness to blind the guards. Don't attack him. Let the Flaming Fist kill him. Cast Speak to the Dead on him and ask him about Thaniel. This will retrigger the conversation with Halsin and he will then go to the lakeshore. Go to the lakeshore immediately.
