In a previous thread some people refer to characters like barbarian, necromancer, paladin etc.

I was wonmdering how to create the above(and any other characters people think of)

Im guessing a necromancer uses just summoning magic but i am not sure about the others.

Any help please anyone?

It basically describes playing style. Insofar it is a very individual understanding of your respective character.

A paladin would be a warrior, which does no evil deeds, and uses magic only to heal or protect, and would wield a sword as main weapon.
A barbarian would also be a warrior, wielding axe or mace, and not using magic at all.
A Nercromancer would concentrate his magic skills in the art of conjuring.

Or any other combination and/or restriction you can think of. The main point is to remain consistent throughout the game, which in DD requires a lot of self discipline.

Some ideas:
Barbarian - No magic.
Ranger - Specialise in bow skills.
Dancer - Weilds a dagger and uses primarily Suvivour skills and body or teleportation magic. Supernaturally agile.
Necroancer - Specialise in spells of resurection and summoning.
Paladin/Knight - Must do good, even if it means turning down quests. Must uphold the law and never perform criminal acts.

Ahh i see.

I saw Hands monk idea and that made me think of my own idea for a monk.

I suppose you could create an assassin character choosing skills such as poisoning and embrace shadows to name a few.

Yup, although there's less options to use that class in the game. Perhaps Mercenary might be a better option, doing jobs for the highest paying bidder.
