I have loved rats all my life and have had hundreds as pets. BG3 normally does a great job at making more than one solution to a problem.... but now I am in the Elgsong Tavern basement. I don't want to slaughter two dozen Sentient Beings just to get to the next stage of the game, why can't there be a peaceable way around these rats? You wouldn't massacre them if they were cats or dogs...
Yes, it should be possible to talk to them and convince them to move elsewhere, for example. To Gortash's bedroom for example, to pee all over his stupid clothes. Or they could move to the circus, doing a trapeze act. They would probably be willing to cooperate. Rats are smarter than cats, after all.

That's because dogs aren't allowed in Baldur's Gate. Cats though... Oh yes, yes I very much would. And I would enjoy it... a**holes acting superior! His Majesty, Steelclaw...*Dark Urge intensifies* Bash them! Kick them! Eat them alive! RIP THEM APART!
I like rats though, they're nice and helpful
Have you tried knocking them out instead or do they just outright die?
I would very much like to talk to them, instead they instantly attack. It was particularly out of place when I'm standing there as a druid with Halsin and Jaheira in party yet we just Spike Growth them to death.
Honestly, this felt like it was a reference to Dark Alliance. Where literally the first thing you do in the game, is get a quest to go kill the rats in the Elfsong Tavern basement.
The kobolds are looking much taller than I remember them in this game though...

I agree completely!
"Forgive me for disturbing you, but..."
Also, ACT III goals...
I'll gave it to Crispen there, even though my era is more the flicks from the 70s but 10 years later on VHS hehe. Basically at any point where we need to make to hard decision, I'd like an option to reflect on what Socrates would have done. In this case BEN, can just rule that Inn.
I'd rather sleep at the Blushing Mermaid or the Splurging Sturgeon anyway.
I dont want to go spoiler territory but later on you will be even more disappointed. But actually there is a reason for this at that point mybe you will understand why this is happening. So I just suggest you to play the game and after completing. Come back and revisit your feedback on this theme.
Never Try becouse im a Ruthless Bastard like the Dude from the Zentharin Says.. But can yu Make then Sleep of Somthing Like that instead of Killing then since yu dont Want ? i find a Similar situation few weeks back with a Dude that didant want to Kill the Giant Birds in Cresch to Get the Hammer.. (so yu just Have to Lockpick the Wall dont Need the Weapons.. easy Job.) this Game always just always gave yu a Way.. just have to Think out of the Box Sometimes.
i my Self dont Care i kill evrything that moves and comes in my Way. im a Doom Guy.. No Feelings for Nothing.. i just Move and Kill xD (nothing agains your Will or Principles dude.. i really respect that a Lot.. i will give a Try when the Game go Back and Run Normally and test a way for you to be able to Skip then.) im that kinda of Crazy i love find this Stuff and Manged so Far to Find a Bunch of Unique ways of Dealing of situations in this Game.
Try invisibility ? to Skip passing then ? Most of Combats in this Game yu Can skip using this.. Even the Final One.. if yu Use Invisibility in the entire Party yu just Walk to the Brain.
The thing I love about this game is there are so many ways to approach a problem. The only limitation is your own imagination. I was going to suggest throwing sleeping potions at the ground, so it splatters on them and makes them fall asleep instead. I wasn't sure if using non-lethal damage would work, because their HP is so low, just the bludgeoning damage might kill them :x I'm glad invisibility worked for you
Zozo is right, there is a part towards the end where there are a TON of them. I just walked passed them without triggering them all, which was nice :x
Yup to Avoid Combat Invisibility its always Good.. Most of times Work.. but be Carefull there are some Enemies that can see yu in higher difficult if im not Mistaken.
but even the End Fight of the Game nowadays i never waste my Time.. Just go to the Brain and pummel hin very Hard. haha
