Reported issue since day one of EA, Larian reported 'fixing' it - or at least improving it to not happen as much - once or twice during EA, but never actually did. I'd encourage folks to keep reporting it, as an issue impacting their enjoyment of the game, but it doesn't seem like something they care about very much, compared to other topics.

How did this Conversation happen ?
was in Some Boss ?
(becouse this Game has this Problem.. the Closest PC to a Boss will kinda enter in the Conversation instead of the Party Leader..)
Sometimes the Games does this in Trasition to other Places too.. like when yu go from Iron Forge to Act 2 using the Elevator..
Many Times i Had to Use time Mode for the Game to make my Character the Main in the Scenematic..
becouse if i went without the time mode he would chose any of the Origin i have in my party istead..
Most of Times he Chose Gale.
I even had this when i was in act 3 doing Jaheira Quest.. he always put Gale as the Main.

i endup avoding playing as Caster becouse of that..
Nowadays i always go as the Front Man and made the rest of the Party Ranged in some Way..
so Only I can stand in the Front..

But to Report to Larian Bugs.. its in the Louncher of the Game
has a Option there and will direct yu to there Site.

I hate this as well and always reload to "game" it so my character is the one to trigger the scene. So annoying.

I know, I hate it when I’m playing through a super intense scene, and I get to see GALE’S face making all of the facial expressions that should be mine! Or, seeing Lae’zel make weird concerned faces that she would never make in-character.
Act 2 spoilers
That girl isn’t going to look worried and intimidated when Dame Aylin is stomping Ketheric’s head into a pulp, that’s for sure! Turned on, more like… knowing Lae’zel.

Oh yeah, that.

Can't count how many times I had to reload the harpy fight. That tiefling kid just doesn't want to talk to my character lol.

Hope they do something about it.

I've no idea why Larian doesn't just disable auto-dialogue for majority of situations where it is simply not necessary, like they've already done for several events since Early Access, like Nadira (the soul coin Tiefling in the Grove) whose auto-dialogue was so PTSD inducing and always picking anyone but the main character. Now she just sits and waits for the player to talk to her, as it should be.

Definitely has been vastly improved since Early Access, though still happens in specific scenarios such as with Mirkon, post Hag fight, Zevlor post Grove raid with his gigantic pull radius, Rolan in ACT 2.

There's simply no reason to be pulling the player immediately into a conversation as soon as a fight is done. Let the players gather themselves first, then we'll talk. Just pointlessly unnecessary and even immersion breaking when it pulls a companion whose personality and nature entirely clashes against the cutscene's facial expressions.

Or not even after a fight, when the NPC is on the other side of the area but the cutscene shows you standing right in front of them.

I would just make it that it always switches to the player character in forced conversations (ex: after fights or entering a cutscene). Why isn't this the case already if people have been complaining about this since EA?

Yup i Had this Problem Two Times..haha
Its Something with the Game i belave..
Like i Said in my Coment the Closest One will endup Becoming the main in the Scenematic/Conversation..

Thas why Nowadays i Dont Play more as Caster..
I always go now as Hexablade or Palock.
or when im A Sorlock i just Go in the Front like a Crazy Maniac and dont Care.
i know this will happen if i stay behind.
(or when the fight is getting closer to end.. i just start to move the party behind and left me only in Front. to avoid the Bug.)

(they actually make a LIttle Bit Better with the last Update when they Put the Star in the main on Pictures.. i beleave that was they Trying to Fix this Bug.)

Becouse after that this Happen Much less now.
(but the tip i Gave was the Best way i Find to avoid this Happening..)

battle is getting closer to a End.. Just Pull all of then Behind yu or Play as the Frontman..
Make Laezel in my Games Fighter/Hunter, Shadow i always kept her as Damage/Support ranged and sometimes pull her in front to use the Strongest Spell she has in close combat and Astarion i always Make hin Thief/Mage so Spell or Bow.. someone get CLoser i Thunder Clap then and Stab the dude with Sneacky atack.. and works Pretty well..
im the Front incontested all the Times and all scenes im there to Intimidate the hell out of evrybody.. becouse im a Ruthless Bastard as Hexablade.. haha
Btw if yu Just Need More Power in Front.. Make Laezel Misty step, Jump to Yu and Smash Hard by your Side.. she is a Beast.
(just Trow the Hunter Mark all yu Need from Hunter and Start to Disarm or fear evrybody with her special atacks from Battlemaster.. its Broken. will Crit non Stop.)
lol
(yu just Need 1 Tank/Frontman the rest is Support.)

i Like to Use Jaheira and Minsc too a lot..
i always Build then in this Way too like..
Jaheira (7 Druid, 2 Fighter, 3 thief trickery for the extra action.)
and she can use Bow, spells, Swords even better if yu Pick her Legendary one from the old Games and can be pretty strong in Front by my Side if i Need like i did with laezel..
Minsc (3 Hunter/3 Barbarian becouse he is a Rasharmen its Lore wise and he should have come with Rage from the Get Go/6 fighter)
Can Gave hin a Sword/Alabard to Swing in Front and Bow so he can Trow some haeavy stuff like Laezel from the Back

Minthi i just Make her a Sorsadin or Palock.. but nowadays i never bring her in to Play..
i never need another Frontman.. i just Like her a Lot more then Halsin. haha

Because a lot of people mistake Larian by and large doing what they want, and that generally lining up with at least a few requests sporadically, as proof that 'Larian listens to their players' (the number of times they've touted changes as 'fan requested' when it's for things that no-one here had ever seen or heard anyone asking for at all is quite impressive). The reality is... they actually don't really... only where it's convenient already or there's a *Lot* of crowd pressure. Which don't make them any worse than any other game studio, in many respects, to be fair... but they mostly focus on fixing what they're interested in, and having tight underlying mechanics, smooth UI operation and reliable interaction control are not big on their interest list. They'll do the bare minimum to keep it 'functional', and that's as much as you can expect from them.
